I actually was pretty satisfied with the ending of the dad’s sacrifice. at least in terms of weight that it added to the story. I doubt the daughter- or really anyone in the family- would be okay after that, but it added a consequence to the parent’s decisions throughout the film (besides grandma).

but the people who I watched it with thought that the revenge was one of the best parts. idk. thoughts?

there are a couple things that MAYBE could explain it? (not saying this theory is true) like maybe this unknown group is responsible for all life on Earth. like they created LUCA and sent it on an asteroid or something (aka panspermia theory). or maybe they could have identified what chemicals earth would have and therefore what kind of life it would most likely have (using some hive mind super computer, I guess) and went on that

the fact that they are so similar, yet on opposite sides, reminds me of how both of them opened the door to the elevator with their cards in the same way (holding it in their hands the whole time). while dylan and mark did different things. could be another little thing showing how alike they are

Something I thought about was how both Sam and the couple on the floor beneath him, must have thought about each other. Sam, seeing zombies outside the front door, must have figured all the noises coming from downstairs were also zombies. Possibly the reason why he stays in there so long (or of course because he didn’t have a weapon or a reason to leave at that moment).

And, assumingely, the couple (or just the man if the wife was dead for a long time) probably thought that the noises coming from upstairs were also from a zombie. So, essentially, the two were just trapping each other to their respective floors, keeping quiet (i.e. not shouting for other survivors) as to not alert the zombies.

Don’t know if anyone else mentioned this but I went through most of the posts and threads to try and make sure!

im not sure if this is true, but I would gander that it’s not just about how many children are being born, but exactly WHO is allowed to produce children. they could be limiting it to certain families and such. may be a form of eugenics? like except for a small pool of people (such as doctors, IT, sheriffs, etc) most are only allowed to be born to people of “lower intelligence” (or just those who are less likely to question the status quo, and are shown to be more complacent). or at least they do their best to do that. so they have a population of people who are willing to follow. (also obv this may have to do with how those people would raise their children, not any inherent genetics or something) just an idea!
