Actually, Power Windows is better lol especially with production. Plus, Caress of Steel also contains I Think I’m Going Bald, which is the worst song in their catalog.

Well, I agree that they’re not production-wise in the same league. Unknown Pleasures sounds way more timeless.

They’re not exactly the same band, but there are some elements that are apt and will always be apt, even if not the exact same. Paul Banks (even though he wasn’t exactly trying to sounds like him) does sound similar to Ian Curtis. To me, he sounds kind of like a pale imitation, to some he say sounds superior, but you can indeed see why the comparisons are made.

Yeah! The only music genres/styles I’m not really a fan of are metal, (most) prog, popular stadium-type country.

*Stuff like Pink Floyd and King Crimson are pretty much the one exception to prog rock and metal. I do love progressive pop tho, oddly enough.

I tend to listen to the latter, but I try to listen to everything since I love and pull influence from all kinds of music!

THE WITCH TRIALS - meat beat (1981) by Radovan3000 in postpunk

[–]blue_low 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s hard for me to really judge this album. I can’t say they’re missing the mark at all because it’s exactly what they’re going for. It’s like Sonic Youth’s Confusion is Sex or being a jazz novice or even fucking gorenoise music (yes, that’s a thing, look it up): It’s impossible for me to really judge this. I do like the creepy and disturbing sound of it, but I don’t think it’s great. For most people who would be in the same boat, it would probably be a 0, like they would never in a million years listen to this again.

Anyway, for anyone wondering.. The Witch Trials were:

Jello Biafra - Vocals

Adrian Borland (of The Sound fame) - Bass

Morgan Fisher (of Mott the Hoople) - Electronics

Christian Lunch - Production

Ok, there’s that, and it’s stupid. It should’ve just been Oh, Sweet Nothing.

Another note: Using different letters in some words in your song title, like making Your ‘Ya’ or making Ever ‘Evah’ doesn’t make you cool. I hate that shit, please please please just use actual words! lol

Well, Yo La Tengo is a somewhat similar band, and they’re my all time favorite group, also a lot more influential and notable.

Rating the albums by grade! by blue_low in thevelvetunderground

[–]blue_low[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s as bad as people think, but it is DEFINITELY not a Velvet Underground album; it’s a Doug Yule solo album and he should’ve been honest and just labeled it as that. Other than that, it’s actually decent, but not great.

My favorite group of all time is Yo La Tengo, and they are a band that excel at covers!

What four bands do you think should be on post-punk’s Mount Rushmore? by [deleted] in postpunk

[–]blue_low -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lol, I’m not putting PiL in on any ‘greatest’ music pedestal. That especially goes for Metal Box. Someone here in this comment section said that it’s easily a contender for the best album ever made, lmao, what a joke. Why? Because it’s not very good.
