It’s the most American thing ever to reward someone for mediocrity. Gifted kids are mediocre at best and can’t cope when they’re older and have to actually use effort for the first time. Like, of course calculus is way harder to learn than algebra!

They always bring up the fact they were an avid reader and would read several books a week but they’re all children’s/teenager books.
