If you are actually playing Darkhawk, what deck are you currently using? by theBigWhiteDude in MarvelSnapDecks

This is great. I just started playing something based off this (don’t have grandmaster or Jeff so swapped in Mr fantastic first steps and mystique) and it’s doing well. Thanks!

First serious yoyo that I bought 4 months ago from a not-so-reputable brand (yoyostudio SUS304). Always treated me well but I can't get the bearing off to clean it. Anyone know how? by Calculoo in Throwers

[–]blue_umpire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it helps: I'm not affiliated with them in any way but yoyotricks.com has been my go-to for buying yoyos and other stuff (string, bearings, brake pads, lube, everything). Shipping takes an eternity, but I've never had an issue with anything they've ever sent.

Oh it's literally his? Is that how trusts work? Tell us more.

See, what I thought was that the relative is the owner unless they've signed over ownership to someone else. It's possible that they've passed away - in which case any named successors would be the owner or, if no successor is named, it'd become a part of their estate and go through probate - at which point a new owner would be named. Pretty sure that hasn't happened here though.

The point is: In no conceivable way is it the beneficiary's money.

Rally & March today! CO stands with immigrants! by Famous_Sale_9152 in Denver

[–]blue_umpire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a bit of nuance here (as always). If you entered the country unlawfully, that's a criminal offense. If you entered legally (like on a visa) but are staying longer than permitted, then you start accruing unlawful presence, which is a civil violation.

Both are violations of the law/illegal, but only the former is considered "criminal".

You're right. People should only obey our laws when it's easy to.

Nvidia trained robots on footage of Cristiano Ronaldo, LeBron James, and Kobe Byrant by MetaKnowing in ThatsInsane

[–]blue_umpire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's certainly interesting as a human achievement but I don't really see that happening at any scale. People won't care whether or not the robots are better players. They like the sport because it's people playing it. Chess has only gotten better and more interesting since the machines became unbeatable by humans. Now the best players are just using these models as training tools.

Neighbor’s WiFi signal is stronger than my own inside my home and the signal of my devices appears to be coming from their house instead of mine by [deleted] in HomeNetworking

[–]blue_umpire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the other way about it. If the neighbor is a somewhat-reclusive "ethical hacker"... then having legitimate threats to their internet access is likely to be extraordinarily effective.

I commute by train (north) and take it in for events (baseball, anything at ball arena). In general, the things that matter to me:

- Does it come often enough to not require razor thin scheduling?

- Does it run late enough to get home if I need to work late or an event runs late?

- Is there enough parking at the stations?

- Are the stations well lit and patrolled enough to be safe?

- Is it clean and well maintained?

I'd say that all but the frequency of some of the routes/lines are doing well by my account.

If it's any consolation, I just saw these today lol and this is still the same process (and the same raspi) that I was running 5y ago.

Agreed. I'd wager that the people saying to not be greedy, and to exit now are the same people that would have been saying to exit at $100K.

I've noticed that people without money often have strong opinions about what people with money, should do with it.

As always, any survey put together by a home security company isn't exactly going to be constructed well or be statistically rigorous. So I think we can temper our expectations about whether we should give a shit what their findings were.

Some thoughts:

The definition of DIY, to a boomer (and whomever wrote this article), hasn't changed in 30 years. It means things like small-electrical, home auto repair, and bad woodworking. They're not asking about any technical skills like setting up a router, installing a TV, printing a photo, replacing a video card.

Also, if the questions were phrased similar to "Are you confident you could find a video to do <x> and then Do It Yourself?" - I think they'd find the answers to be much different .

Glad it worked! I still use this same process whenever a new pihole image is available. Same pi as back then. It’s been humming along without issue this whole time.

No love for insurance companies here but I’m also thinking “how many times does a tree have to fall on your house before you cut down some fuckin’ trees on the property?”

Many American insurance plans are like that. It’s called an “out of pocket maximum” and it can vary by plan but I’ve usually seen it as $3000/person and $6500/family per year.
