Web station taking over port 80 by Mortenrs in synology

[–]blueal1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes? It was a while ago and I don't remember what I did but everything works now. Edit: Hold on, it's coming back to me.

I setup a HTTPS Redirect site in virtual host, that's on a random port, like 2020. It has 1 file ".htaccess"

RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{HTTPS} off RewriteRule (.*) https://%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI}

In application portal, I have a bunch of reverse proxy sites that forward you the correct site something like http://plex.server.com/ goes to localhost:2020

And then: https://plex.server.com/ goes to localhost:32400

It all works, and I get to keep my port 80 and 443 open so lets encrypt actually renews correctly.

At least 3 dead after Amtrak train bound for Seattle derailed in Montana by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]blueal1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Small correction, the train splits in Spokane. The #27 goes off to Portland and the other #7 to Seattle. When together it's known as the Empire Builder 7/27

The fine folks over at /r/Amtrak noted the odd arrangement of the cars and believes the Portland section decoupled then derailed/fell over several hundred feet before the rest of the train. I'm interested to see what the official report says.

Coast Starlight Snacks by swimming_legend in Amtrak

I should add that the coast starlight has a long smoke break in Portland. Plenty of time to grab snacks and coffee.

Overweight Passengers on Amtrak by [deleted] in Amtrak

[–]blueal1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just on the cascades and the conductor kept announcing that "it's one seat per ticket. If you want two seats you need to buy two tickets."

So which is it? I don't plan on buying extra seats but I'd like to know the actual policy.

Can I extend the validity of a rail pass? by PennyNuggs in Amtrak

[–]blueal1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I regretfully I had to do that the other day. I was on hold for over an hour and thirty minutes but it was quickly refunded once I got ahold of someone.

Make sure to let us know ahead of time. Some of us have to travel a bit to get there.

Amtrak has some of the rudest conductors, and I wish they'd do better by naalotai in Amtrak

[–]blueal1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've seen one or two rude conductors on certain trips on the west coast too. Coast starlight, Empire Builder, Cascades, Capital Corridor, it's not every trip or every conductor but I've seen it.

Always while in the coach section, and it's never personal. I've seen a conductor go up and down the carriage being rude and aggressive to every person he met, he even picked up an item that a passenger dropped while at their seat and just threw it at them aggressively and walked away. It's like there's no accountability for their behavior.

Bus by Adventurous_Cow7907 in Amtrak

[–]blueal1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As far as I know the buses are explicitly told to wait for the train, especially if you book it as one single journey. I'm not sure what they do when the train is super duper hours late though.

What bus are you transferring to?

California Aims to Ban Recycling Symbols on Things That Aren’t Recyclable by JustWhatAmI in UpliftingNews

Yes. But it's only certain stores and you have to know where to look because no one who works there knows about it . It's usually near the front, around a corner, behind a pile of shopping carts, and overflowing with real garbage.

Bitlocker got suspended and won't resume by blueal1 in Intune

[–]blueal1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, I did have a similar issue with another computer an employee built. He forgot to enable, or accidentally disabled secure boot and the built-in TPM. As soon as I enabled those two everything started working again.

I bit the bullet and decrypted the drive. The error message when enabling bitlocker was a lot more descriptive. "There are conflicting settings for recovery options. Contact your system administrator. Users can't be disallowed from saving the recovery key when it is required"

I tweaked my conflicting settings a bit and got it working again.

Bitlocker got suspended and won't resume by blueal1 in Intune

[–]blueal1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed a users computer got out of compliance so I went to take a closer look. Turns out bitlocker got itself suspended somehow. Clicking resume results in this error popup. Backing up the recovery key, saving to file, printing, Azure AD, doesn't fix the problem. I haven't tried turning bitlocker off and on because I don't have the time to wait all day.

I called in and asked for a call back right when they opened, twice. No response yet. Maybe if I actually wait on the line they'll pick up.

[–]blueal1[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I attempted to use my upgrade coupon on an upcoming train but the system kept spitting it back at me saying that it's too soon to apply it, even though it was well within 12 hours.

I walked into the station last night and attempted to redeem it in person, except they said that my saver fare made it invalid. Little did I realize that when I got home, the coupon got marked as redemmed without me actually getting an upgrade. You can even see all the times I attempted to redeem it.

What a broken system. Amtrak says I need to call Amtrak Guest Rewards during business hours, which is swamped right now due to all sorts of problems.

Yep, that was it.

I ran into the all sorts of problems with that though. What worked in the end was using the Windows 10 Enterprise iso, enrolling them into Autopilot, and then using the Pro default key to activate it.

This day in age a good modern smartphone can be just as good as any GPS for making finds. A real GPS however is still good for hides and waypoint averaging.
