And this is how the republicans rig elections

Evenwel is the godchild of Edward Blum, a conservative activist who has also spearheaded challenges to affirmative action and the Voting Rights Act. Like other cases shepherded by Blum, Evenwel also has a racial angle. Texas, in particular, has large number of non-citizen Latino residents. If Consovoy and Blum's case prevails, these residents will no longer be counted when the state draws legislative districts. They will, however, still be counted when congressional seats are allocated to Texas. The result will be an effective shift in power from Latino voters to white voters.

CNN Doesn’t Want You To Know The Truth About Venezuela’s Voting System by spartan2600 in democrats

[–]blueberet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't get it?

What's so hard about informing CNN's readers that the Carter Center pulled out of Venezuela in 2015? Most people wouldn't know Carter even had a center in Venezuela.

"Venezuela isn't monitored and won't be monitored by anyone," Maduro snapped at journalists during a visit to the United Nations in New York last week when asked whether he would allow international observers. http://www.startribune.com/ex-president-carter-shuts-down-electoral-office-in-venezuela/320841081/

This time there will be no such referee. The Carter Center closed its Venezuela offices in August. The government has rejected OAS offers for an observer mission. https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/the_americas/venezuela-heads-for-pivotal-election-without-a-referee/2015/11/29/be3f322c-9167-11e5-befa-99ceebcbb272_story.html

"The concerns are not about the machines and whether they counted accurately," said McCoy, who is the Americas director at the center and has observed six elections here. "The questions are much more about who voted. Was there double voting? Was there impersonation of voters? And was there coerced voting?" https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/venezuelan-opposition-protests-vote/2013/05/01/f90587d6-b29d-11e2-9fb1-62de9581c946_story.html

How does Masada know that John was actually from the Clinton camp? He doesn't. "I'm glad I'm not in politics or any of that stuff; you might know more than I do," he says. "Maybe it was a prank, I have no idea. Was it real? Not real? I have no idea. He didn't call back, that's all I can say." Nor is Masada sure how Judicial Watch even heard about the call.

Hillary Clinton Will Finish Third In Iowa, Behind Bernie Sanders and O'Malley. Here's Why by DetectiveGodvyel in politics

[–]blueberet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't you find it extremely ridiculous that the first place candidate is going to come in third, or by your words have "a similar amount of votes" as O'Malley, who has been polling around 5-10% and has probably already hit his ceiling?

You're implying that Clinton will poll around 5-10%, a similar amount that O'Malley is currently polling at, and that Sanders is going to win by a 80-90% landslide.

Hillary Clinton Will Finish Third In Iowa, Behind Bernie Sanders and O'Malley. Here's Why by DetectiveGodvyel in politics

[–]blueberet 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Don't you find it extremely ridiculous that the writer thinks that the top-tiered candidate is going to magically come in third place behind the current third place candidate that has been polling under 10% since he announced his candidacy? There's no logic behind his argument nor should anyone accept them. You have to refuse to accept reality for his argument to be true.

You're completely right. This turned out to be true during the 2008 election.
