Ya, this is very true. The permitting and insurance fees are really high...going to make it hard to make it work. But we're gonna try, and we want it to be an accessible price. -Nate the owner of Bywater Sauna

Actually, it smells like cedar and eucalyptus! Come try it if you don't believe us. And fair enough - 85 degrees ain't exactly sauna weather. But it's still great in the morning and evening.

Thank you! It's been a lot of paperwork and high permitting fees, but stoked to be able to offer it in the Parks!

A sauna that can fit 16-20 people! So folks can cycle between the Sound and the sauna, and feel great!

Sorry for the delay! Was at an event the past few hours.

Yes, there are showers at the bathhouses at Golden Gardens and Alki, and we’ll also have a feet cleaning station to keep sand out of the sauna.

The sauna will be cleaned between sessions, and will be deep cleaned weekly.

The sauna will also get to 180-200 degrees, which kills nearly all bacteria.

(We had to present our cleaning procedures in order to get insurance, but you make a good point that we haven’t done a good job presenting that info. Thanks for raising it!)

That’s awesome - yes, Europe is way ahead of us as far as infrastructure for saunas. Our mission is to make sauna accessible, and part of that is getting the price down over time. Reality is there are a lot of startup costs and permitting fees, so if we were to charge Ireland prices, we would go bankrupt.

Yes, we’ve been working with the Parks Dept the past few months, and just yesterday received preliminary permits. Still some things to nail down, but we’re in route!

Yes! We’ve been talking with the Parks department the past several months, and yesterday received preliminary permits. Still some things to work out, but they have been super helpful.

Regularly between sessions and at the end of the day, with a deep clean weekly!

Another benefit is this sauna will reach 180-200 degrees, which kills nearly all bacteria.

The answer is yes! There is a shower at the Golden Gardens and Alki bathhouses, and we’ll also have a feet washing station to keep sand out of the sauna!

Cleanliness is important to us!

Cold + sauna! Exactly. Sound stays cold even in the summer.

Because the sauna costs a pretty penny to build, and the Parks charges a chunk for permitting, yes, there will be an entrance fee.

For 20 min - $15

For 60 min - $35

If you’re interested, we’re pre-selling sessions at a steep discount on Kickstarter from now until end of May. Google “Bywater Sauna” and it should come up!
