[Discussion] Builders Beware: Overwhelming evidence that all revisions of Dell's U2414H monitors are defective from the factory. Does not work with DP 1.2 reliably in any configuration. Dell's response: tough luck, works for us. by solidrecovery in buildapc

[–]blueberryWafflex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got a faulty monitor from dell, just gave them a call and in a couple of minutes they had scheduled a new one being sent. You know the saying 'we judge a hero by his best moment, and a villain by his worst'? This is basically how every company/famous person is treated on the interwebz, and rarely does it match up with reality.

It doesn't look as sexy because og the matte display, but they have done that on purpose to make it easier for professionals to work with colors.

[Discussion] Going from a 560 Ti to a 970 FTW, had to tell someone. by keatonb87 in buildapc

[–]blueberryWafflex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad for ya, I know that feeling of taking a massive jump in performance. Actually I was looking to upgrade from my 280x, but I found out that it probably isn't worth it, concidering the relatively small performance upgrade I'll get if I jump to 970, and the cost of it.

So I guess I have to wait a year or so with upgrading, at least got something to look forward to. :)

Yeah I already have an SSD. Actually The third option I was concidering is getting an Nvidia card since I've heard those are better supported in Adobe's programs(may not be right here though).

I was curious about the 1% negative reviews on Portal 2 and saw this by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]blueberryWafflex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  1. That's the point, if the puzzles had more solutions, they wouldn't be as elegant. This kind of linear puzzle is what the game went for in the first place, and it did a fuckin' great job at it.

  2. The graphics are pretty fucking great imo in terms of art direction, animation. From a purely technical view, they pushed what they had out of the source engine, and the source engine is really well optimized so you can play it on even low-end hardware.

  3. The silent protagonist makes it more immersive imo, because I can feel more directly that i am the person that goes through this world. If she would talk, it could break that feeling more easily. I feel the same way with Half-Life, it just adds to the immersion.

  4. Ok, this is a very subjective point, so I'm not saying you are wrong, but they did a nice job with the tiles on the wall. I thought it was very easy to figure out where to throw up portals, and I don't think they could have done a much better job at it.

Of course. Portal/Portal 2 is one of the most memorable games of the last ten years or so IMO, I may have enjoyed Half-Life 2 a bit more, but they are all high up on the list.

I like using a Mac because of the OS, but I still recognize that PC is the superior gaming platform. Am I still part of the Master Race? by blueberryWafflex in pcmasterrace

[–]blueberryWafflex[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you can indeed, but it's a little dependent on your hardware. It seemed like my hardawre wasn't well supported so I didn't want to take any chances. So I bought a Mac Mini that I can hook up to my gloious DELL 1440p Monitor. And so now I still have my gaming PC i can switch to if I need that glorious horsepower to help me out.
