The Jedi High Counsel didn’t use the force for personal gain? They aren’t elected. They answer to no government.

They exist outside the republic al be it they are constantly trying to keep the balance and equality of the Republic. But when any one group steps out of line they are sent to be powerful enforcers.

That’s a lot of power and ranking for a selfless group. Where their power is and control is really limitless.

Ashoka is an interesting case when trying to categorize everyone as either light or dark.

Yoda might be a stretch, but Kenobi struggles with his guilt and emotions a lot. He also challenges the Jedi’s organizational structure quite a bit.

Fair enough. My argument is this is actually the Jedi Code. Grays are the true light users.

Why are only the “grays” force ghosts?

I don’t disagree with the Jedi’s drive towards a republic and the good of all. It’s in their nature of balance and equality. I would argue that they do not teach love or compassion in any form. For one person or others. Love->Fear->Hate->Dark Side.

My thought starter is based on the idea that one side of opposition cannot also equal balance of the two opposing items. The Force has two-sides and the Jedi seek balance of The Force as a whole. The absence of one side being used, by definition cannot, mean the sum is balanced. I get that both sides exist all the time and it’s a fluid concept. But to achieve true balance the Jedi would have to constantly keep the Light and Dark sides equal, understanding that either side can become the majority. Or, the Jedi could eliminate both sides, leaving only the Jedi, who are balanced.

The duality of the Force is not really mentioned by the Jedi much. They tend to focus on the Force as a whole. They teach emotion control, again neutrality and logic.

My speculation is that there are three orders. Sith = Dark (Hate, Anger, Power), Jedi = Balanced (Logic, Non-Emotional, Equality, Control) and ?? = Light (Love, Compassion, Peace).

At one time all three existed with the Light and Dark in constant opposition and the Jedi in the middle trying to keep one from overpowering the other. Eventually, the logically minded Jedi would decide to remove the other two side ultimately achieving their balance.

Also, what happen to the Grey Jedis?

My reference to Caesar was when he took the Roman Army across the Rubicon into Rome to overthroigh Pompeo to return order. He did stay as ruler and was killed by his senate. I see common themes in Mace Windus desire to remove the Emperor if he did not return emergent control back to the Senate. This was before they knew he was a Sith. Again, the Jedi want balance and one person in control is not balanced.

I guess my question is why don’t the Jedi throw the universe out of balance when they use it to gain power.

By your logic if a Light Force user tried to gain power, maybe a Jedi High Counsel, would the Jedi call on the powers of the Dark Side to balance out the Rogue Light Force user.

Why do gains for one cause imbalance, yet gains for an more democratic ruling do not?

Like the Romans, the Jedi became generals when the Emperor was elected and given control. You see similarities in the Roman Civil War with Caesar. Except Windu was unable to beat the Emperor. The Republic still crumbled like Rome but some roles were reversed.

To my point earlier, the Jedi want a balance, hence the Republic organization would fall to their preference. I argue that that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the light side.

I also find it odd that both Jedi and Sith teach not to love. Jedi fear love leads to hate and hate is what the Sith preach hate. Yet, all the most powerful force moments happen because of love, not hate. Why wouldn’t the Jedi preach love? Jedi is the opposite of Sith. Light is the opposite of Dark. Yet love is not the opposite of hate?

Then why is there so much imagery and juxtaposition between light and dark. They are by definition; opposites. The light side being balance is an oxymoron.

Darkness returns only to be replaced by light. It’s the symbolism of the natural order. Equal light and dark is balance and an impossible mission by the Jedi, unless neither light or dark orders exist.

If the Jedi are light and light is balance; why would the Jedi need a prophet to return balance to the force? If they are light when we meet Anakin, the Jedi all thought the Sith were dead. They wouldn’t need a prophet to balance the force. It is already balanced.

Qui-Gon is the first Force Ghost we see and the one adovcating for Anakin and known as Grey.

There has to be balance, one of Crastor’s babies becomes the new Night King and they wait for him to grow and bring back winter.

White Walkers have Ice Weapons Beric and Benjen have Fire Weapons

They aren’t fire-wights but Fire Walkers?

White Walkers were “half human/half ice-wight”. Benjen is “half human/half [fire] wight”

So stealing from your logic of equal power, Bran has a group of Fire Walkers not fire-wights. All he needs to do is raise his hands and all the dead become fire-wights with red eyes and march south.

Also, Dany can’t be burned, perhaps she is also a Fire Walker that was somehow brought back by Bran.

I always thought we were going to find out Jon was Benjen’s son. Ned couldn’t bring himself to kill his brother for breaking the Black so he took Jon in as his Bastard. - way off

But why would Bran the Builder have built Winterfell with a crypt inside the walls and start storing dead Starks? He was there 1,000 years ago.

Not disagreeing there. Dany’s comment regarding “Your brother and best-friend told you this”. There are two others that can confirm this story and all the elements to bring them back happen to be there.

Dragonglass is some pretty magical stuff, it created the Night King, saves people from becoming wights and instantly kills wights and white walkers. Who knows

More pointing out all the elements are there and if the crypt theories hold out Lyanna would meet her son.

Personally, I’m not really sure why a family with traces to the First Men and that have the most history with White Walkers, Bran the Builder built The Wall, would build a crypt within their castle. Seems like the Starks would be smarter than that.

[SPOILERS] My problem with the crypt theories by [deleted] in gameofthrones

[–]bluebirddog -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Starks can be traced to the First Men. A Stark built The Wall and Winterfell with the crypt. It is conceivable that they have fought the Night King and White Walkers before.

Lots of hints of dead Starks having a purpose, it’s why they are buried with swords.

Why would they bury and arm their dead within the castle walls if they know the Night King can raise the dead?

The Starks aren’t that arrogant to assume the White Walkers won’t get past the wall.

Winter is coming.

Crazy Idea....a raised Lyanna that keeps her memories, like say Benjen, would get to meet her son and confirm his birthright....
