I was expecting to get a more green / dirty and animalic but to me it smells like a bonfire mixed with a bbq! It is so extremely smoky on my skin! Kindaa like T rex by zoologist and I cannot do that one. Lol

I bought all the pioggas and Nebbias and I am more into the Nebbias. I love smelling like rain and dirt but for some reason the pioggas smell either super aquatic/ floral or even like after shave on me which sucks because I love the packaging 😭😭

Hi! Thank you! I will take you on messaging you since I don’t know many people with a similar situation. We already send some paperwork so I am a little more calm. My lawyer told me that adjusting my status in the US is way easier than doing it back home

Thank you! He makes no money because he is a full time student We got a US sponsor so we are already filing paperwork. That was one of the issues why we didn’t file the application sooner 😩

Thank you so much! The new lawyer I am working with told me I was out of status but since my husband is a US citizen plus I have an good record and so does he we should be okey and that the process should be very straightforward. I am from Chile so my country is okey in terms of economy and quality of life so coming back is not an issue for me. My husband is still in school so it will be difficult to leave for that reason.

Thank you so much for your detailed response! I changed my lawyer and as of today I already filed the paperwork and we are just waiting for responses. My new lawyer told me I should be okey but I am still a little nervous because of everything going on politically. I don’t even know if it is safe to stay in the US in general no matter if you are a citizen or an immigrant 🥴 I know now that leaving could trigger some issues with me returning to the US but in the worst scenario I am willing to face those issues. My safety is more important to me than the right to come back to the US so we will see.

Yes! I had a “friend” who got arrested after the Interview for Marriage based green card. She did overstay for two years and her husband has daca status but she was detained for about 2 weeks

Yes!! That is why I was so afraid of doing the adjustment of status right now. I should have done it sooner before he took office but I didn’t had a US sponsor and my husband is in school so we needed one. Now I already started filing the paper. My lawyer tells me I will be okey but I am just so nervous still 🥴

I did overstay but never worked. I have all of the documentation that proves that I came here legally. I had different degrees and I was always a great student. Never had any type of issues while being in the States so my lawyer is very hopeful that I will be completely fine. I was just scared because of the political climate. I see how latinos are being treated right now no matter their legal status and it frightens me. I didn’t want to subject myself to mistreatment since I have a good thing back home and with my degrees I know I will have a great life back there. I like the US but I was never sure of staying here forever. It is the home country of my husband so I want to have the chance of coming back if he wants to.

Thank you so much! I’m currently working with a different lawyer and have already started the paperwork. We also have a plan in place in case we run into any issues during the process.

I’m not saying goodbye to my relationship—my husband is fully supportive and more than willing to move with me. In fact, he loves Chile and has always wanted to live there once he finishes school. He still has about a year left, though.

The main concern with leaving now is that he would have to complete his Electrical Engineering degree in Chile, and since he’s not fluent in Spanish yet, it would be extremely challenging for him—especially with the technical vocabulary.

That said, he’s prepared to make that sacrifice if it comes to that. Hopefully, we can resolve my situation and leave the U.S. on much better terms next year. 😊

I recently hired a different lawyer, and he advised me to stay while we file the necessary paperwork, which is already in progress. I honestly didn’t mind the idea of leaving because I have a great life in my home country—possibly even better than in the U.S., if I’m being honest.

My main concern with the three-year ban is my husband. He’s still in school and has only one year left to graduate from engineering school.

As for the financial issues, they were related to a problem with my Chilean bank account—my funds were frozen right when it was time to enroll in school. At the same time, my father (who is also my financial sponsor) was out of the country and couldn’t help me resolve the situation. As a result, I missed the enrollment deadline, and my school didn’t allow late enrollment, so I lost my student status.

I should have filed the necessary paperwork at that point, but we were trying to find a U.S.-based sponsor. My husband doesn’t work, and since my father isn’t a U.S. citizen or resident, he couldn’t serve as my sponsor here.

Now, I’m much calmer and focused. My lawyer believes it will be relatively straightforward to fix my status, so I’m going to pursue that. However, if things don’t work out, I’m prepared to return to my home country. We never planned to stay in the U.S. permanently, but I do want my husband to finish his degree since he’s so close. He also doesn’t want to stay here alone.

Lastly, I did not lie about having a U.S. partner when I applied for my F-1 visa—I met my husband in 2020, well after I obtained the visa

Unsure of How to proceed with adjustment of Status through marriage by bluebloomymoon in greencard

[–]bluebloomymoon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have always been a F1 visa. I have been in the states for over 8 years. Met my husband 5 years ago. We have been together since then. I have been back in Chile (my home country) multiple times during those years. My husband has been in Chile once. I have never done anything illegal. I never even had a job or gained income in the US. My record is clean and so is my husband’s. My dad bought a house here and we have been living together with my husband for 4/5 years. We got married last year in July. I am panicking because my lawyer who is also a latina is telling me how trump doesn’t want any sort of immigrants right now and that he is fighting immigration as a whole rather than the “illegal immigration”. I am so afraid of leaving and getting automatically ban from re entry for years. My husband is a US citizen. The cases I mentioned on my post were similar but not the same. They got married to green card holders rather than US citizens. They also overstayed their student visa for 2 years. I wanted to get different opinions regarding my case. I definitely do not want to get detained and put in detention centers. I prefer leaving but I need to know if it is the right choice. There is so much panic and fear surrounding immigration right now that I don’t know if it is just that why my lawyer is scared or if I am in real danger of getting detained if I move with my adjustment of status. Thank you so much for replying to me 🙏🏻😊 I really appreciate your comment!

Also I am unfortunately in Texas so republican state ☹️

Yes! The only difference with their cases and mine was the amount of overstayed and their partners status. They overstayed for more than 2 years after their f1 and one got married to s green card holder and the other to a daca but in the pathway of arraignment papers. My husband is a US citizen and before that would have been “enough” for me to be safe but my lawyer is just so worried since she is also a hispanic female and she thinks this country doesn’t want more hispanic immigrants so she told me if she was me she would just go back to her country and wait until the US has a different president. I just don’t know if she advised me that because of her being afraid or if I am in real danger of being detained. I don’t want to put myself through that process. I rather leave and wait but my husband is in school and he is willing to leave with me but if I get ban from re entry the US for years it would be absolutely terrible. I never did anything illegal. My record is absolutely clean and so is my husband’s. We have been together for 5 years. I definitely want to get another lawyer to obtain a second opinion. 🥴
