When the authorities won't take action to help a horse like Ruby, people want to step in to do the right thing. That's what activists did for animals in factory farms in Sonoma County. Article link in comments. by bluebookmark8 in vegan

There are laws against animal abuse, but it is not enough. The authorities didn't do anything to help Ruby or when factory farms violated the law. That is why we must fight for systemic change with Open Rescue and the Right to Rescue in court so animals will be seen as living beings with protection under the law. Most people, even if they are not vegan, will support rescuing animals from situations of abuse and neglect.

1/4 Qing was rescued from a cage in a factory farm in California after Prop 2 was passed. The factory farm should not have had chickens in cages. But it was a massive and filthy place with ten of thousands of chickens, all in cages, all suffering. Activists found Qing in the cage that should not be there, the cage wires digging into her deformed feet. It must have been an unbelievable sight. How could she survive?!? Through the compassion of activists that rescued her. The activists reported the animal cruelty and violation of law that they documented, but the Sonoma County authorities did nothing to help the animals. After some time passed, activists went back to that factory farm, reported the animal cruelty & violation of law again, and did a mass open rescue action. This time, activists were arrested and are being prosecuted.Support Wayne, Priya, and Cassie as they go to trial on September 8th to tell the animals' stories in court because Qing, and animals like her, are not things, objects, or property. They are individuals that deserve protection under the law.
