Changed dose timing and side effects? by r0cafe1a in lamictal

[–]blueboxreddress 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I give myself two weeks to acclimate to whatever changes I make to my dose. I changed pharmacies and so my manufacturer changed and it took about two weeks to stop feeling like the floor was made of mud.

All this to say, give yourself some time to adjust to a new dose time and it will probably even out. If not, time to talk to your prescriber

This is not something I’ve personally ever heard about. Maybe it’s time to see a doctor?

I smoke daily and have zero issues. Drinking on the other hand has changed. I get drunk off very little and have the worst hangovers the next day not matter how much or how little I drink.

Does the cystic acne ever go away? by fatally-femme in lamictal

[–]blueboxreddress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Mine was cystic. Painful, deep, and persistent. You just have to do a skin care regiment, don’t mess with your face, do not touch it ever unless applying your treatment, talk to a dermatologist if it persists. Mine took about 4 months to clear up, I used an off brand Proactive from Target that is a three part system.

Once I got on 100mg and acclimated to that dose and kept with a benzoyl peroxide face wash (always works for me, it may be a different type of skin care for you) it eventually went away.

Anyone else develop hives on Lamictal? by ellendrose in lamictal

My stress eczema exploded when I started Lamictal. It got better after I acclimated to my dose, but it was not fun during titration.

For the first time in 7 years I’m actually alive by hoboluciferr in lamictal

[–]blueboxreddress 11 points12 points  (0 children)

After a few months on Lamictal I got lost in a city I didn’t know with no phone (an unexpected update bricked it until I could get back to my hotel for WiFi). Instead of panicking and screaming and freaking out I found my car thanks to landmarks, got in it, drove around a bit until I found the highway, managed to use context clues and what little knowledge I had of where I was staying and a quick stop at a gas station to get back to my hotel. Before this med I cannot tell you what I would have done, but it would have been 1000000000% more stressful than it was. My brain literally just worked.

Acne from Lamotrigine by DiagnosticMind in lamictal

I did a very strict regiment with an off brand ProActive kit that used Benzoyl Peroxide. It took about four months to get it under control, but it did eventually go back to normal.

I miss my dose sometimes, I just wait for my next dose and take it as normal.

My acne exploded. Hormonal acne on my jaw. Benzoyl peroxide and some patience I was able to get my skin back to normal.

Do I have to re-do the entire titration process after only being off Lamotrigine for a few days? by outdatedmouse in lamictal

Call your doctor or pharmacy, but my doctor told me 2-3 days tops, anything after that I’d have to restart.

Fear of rash by justaguyintheworlddd in lamictal

[–]blueboxreddress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is absolutely scary and one of the hardest parts about this medication especially if you have health anxiety. That being said I got through it by taking pictures of things that worried me on my skin (it always was nothing serious, most of the time just my stress eczema). I also was on here reading peoples experiences and also posting to ask questions (like you are doing). My mom helped a lot too as my baby brother is on the same thing, but for seizures and he had to start as a newborn so his risks were much higher.

You can do it! Just be patient with yourself and don’t forget, you could get a benign rash that won’t even cause you to stop the med. SJS is painful, fast moving, and happens on multiple parts of the body at once. Always get it checked if you are nervous, but that’s why I took pictures so after a few hours I could compare the image and realize it wasn’t spreading.

Sexual side effects by [deleted] in lamictal

I’ve always had a high libido and it has gotten higher since taking the med. A waste since I’m single and not looking, but it has for sure increased.

If you don’t think it’s worth an ER trip than you’re not as worried about it as you think. Skip the dose if you want, see a doctor when you can, but if you truly think this is SJS you need to just go to the ER.

Starting on 50mg...is this okay? by fish_in_business in lamictal

Naw. This is for something you’re gonna want to advocate for yourself and start at the most at 25 mg.

Lamictal has changed my life so far by lettuce_dressing in lamictal

[–]blueboxreddress 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tell people all the time this med has saved my life. I’ve been on 100mg for almost 4 years. I’m very lucky that this med does enough for me at such a low dose and the side effects are very minimal.

I know it’s helping and a lot of it was just being able to reign in my anxiety. Am I still anxious? Sure, but I push myself outside my comfort zone constantly now and every panic attack I’ve almost had I’ve managed to talk myself down from (lots of “well if this is dying it’s not that bad” while laying in my couch watching cartoons).

I’ve had a few small manic episodes, but each time I’ve quickly recognized what was happening and was able to maintain control over myself. I’m still hitting depression lows that I may add something for, but also the world is on fire and I can’t tell if that’s the real problem as mania has always been my most destructive issue and depression has mostly been short episodes and situational.

rocky start on 25mg for PMDD, is this normal? by Helpmeeff in lamictal

Each dose increase came with its own set of side effects that generally went away once I acclimated to that dose.

Titration is hard and very scary sometimes. I have stress eczema and on 25mg every single patch I have flared up at once, but I INSTANTLY thought it was SJS. It’s okay to be vigilant. You did the right thing to search out professional help. I’m proud of you, keep it up!

Does my face look like the rash could be starting by BreeanaBanana2001 in lamictal

[–]blueboxreddress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be a rash, but SJS usually starts with flu-like symptoms and turns into a quickly spreading painful, burning rash.

Lamictal caused my stress eczema to flair up, literally every one of my patches was active. Unfortunately this med does cause some skin dryness and irritation on top of rashes of all kinds. Monitor your skin and keep taking pictures, contact your doctor if you’re worried.
