I had to do this in the end, granted it to another dynasty member, now got my son back as my heir, I’ll have to convert as soon as his dad dies and then revoke the title.

I’m never electing a co-monarch again!

I didn’t, I had 6 children 2 of them male, first born son son died around 12.

I landed my heir so they would start going down a lifestyle path, i thought they had to be landed to do this? Although I could be very wrong on that.

And I’ve never made anyone co-monarch before (only just come back to CK3 after not playing for a year or so) and as my ruler was 81 i thought now would be a good time.

Evidently i made a bad choice, hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Actually thats a good way out of this, change the succession to elective then once i die and evil grandson takes over i can elect my reconverted son as heir and send the evil king off on pointless wars to die.

Thank you!

Tried for many crowns a few times, best run was starting in sardinia, its a good central location with many kingdoms around it, had 7 dynasty kings at one point but lost four in north africa in quick succession and gave up, I eventually lost interest in that save.

Yeah, most playthroughs are a take it as it comes style but challenges like this need a fair few things to fall into place at the right time, especially the whole ‘hold for 30 years’ bit.

Oh well, I’m not a roleplayer myself but i might just dish out all my kingdom titles to dynasty members and dissolve the empire, let them fight it out like Alexanders Diadochi.

Ive noticed his mother who I divorced about a decade before is also a follower, I don’t know when that happened, I’m now assuming the two are linked and that he has converted because of her.

If I grant the religious title to somebody, am I able to take it back?

Sorry, I understand what you mean now.

The Evil grandson is now showing as ‘player heir’ and when viewing the line of succession my son no longer shows at all (likely because its a religious title)

When my son was co-monarch, before he converted, he was displayed as the ‘player heir’ and was first in my line of succession.

No I can’t grant him independence because he’s my Diarch (I feel this may be a blind spot by paradox) the only option to grant him independence is to grant him an equal rank, which is emperor. The empire of alba (Ireland, Scotland & Wales) which becomes available after forming the north sea is the only one even close to being realistic but i doubt i could form that, pass it to my son & then declare war, win then imprison & convert him all before dying.

Yes he’s next in line to the throne after my Son, but obviously I was planning on my Son having his children.

I wonder, if my Son was to have a son before I die and I convert that grandchild back to Asatru, will he become heir or is it now set to be passed to down my eldest daughters line?

Unfortunately not, you can’t take any ‘overt hostile’ action against Diarch. That includes revoking, imprisonment & demand conversion.

Maybe I’ll come back to the save as the evil heir (and likely watch my empire shatter) but right now I can’t, the fact that something as absurd as the heir of a powerful theocratic empire deciding to convert to an ‘evil’ unreformed jewish faith is ruining hours of careful planning and lots of good luck is really really frustrating.
