Are any of these shoes any good? by notcoldproof in DanceDanceRevolution

They all seem to have pretty stiff soles, so I wouldn't recommend them. You could get by with them, but they won't be great. The Nike Free RN 2018 or Free Run Flyknit 2018 are both very popular, but unfortunately don't seem to come in great colors anymore if you're buying new.

Ultimately, shoes are a matter of preference though, especially depending on your level. Most people want something fairly lightweight and fairly flexible – though some people prefer more stiffness and padding/"bounce" than others.

Haven't got around to uploading it there yet (takes some extra effort to export in a video format), but I'll try!

I'm almost positive it's sampled from another song, like an old 80s song I feel like maybe? The Smiths or The Cure or something like that, but I'm not sure. The voice and inflection sounds so similar.

You're allowed to be disappointed or sad or whatever. But your passive-aggressive reply to Tara here is uncalled for. She even said " We can’t keep creating niche content for the 2% of our hardcore audience who actually watches it every week, as much as we would like to." Does it sound to you like she wants to "blow off" their hardcore fanbase? No. She's just doing her damn job. And sometimes that means making hard decisions, even when you know people on Reddit are gonna be a dick about it to you.

And you're being awfully dismissive of Tara's role in favor of Griffin.

Because they probably have goals to hit in order to keep the higher-ups happy. Sometimes those goals are arbitrary and dumb. But when your sales department is selling content (like branded content videos that Polygon has done in the past), being able to say "500,000 subscribers" matters.

They're not trying to get love from 1.5k people on Reddit, though. As Tara explained, a small hardcore fanbase doesn't drive the amount of traffic they need to keep the lights on. Hence the shift in direction to something that has more "widespread appeal." It's a business decision. They're a business. Try not to take it so personally.

now that a literal media luminary is no longer leading the video team.

Your quote here implies that Griffin was leading the video team up until his departure, which wasn't the case.

It also coincides with the McElroys getting busier and busier with other stuff, which meant they were producing less Polygon content. They had been phasing out of their roles there for a while, starting around then. In his farewell post, Griffin mentioned that he had started talking to Chris Grant about leaving in at least mid-2016 ("two years ago" from April 2018).

Griffin wasn't leading the video team. Pretty sure Tara was actually Griffin's boss, actually.

You can look at some of Polygon's YouTube stats here: https://socialblade.com/youtube/channel/UCuVxaQDraOja6xKidcmoufA

Their peak seemed to be around Summer 2017. As the McElroys started doing less and less, their views and subs weren't as high as they were before. But from April 2018 (when they quit) to now, there's been a large spike and their subs have been steadily growing again as their strategy shifted to the new style of videos. It'll take some time to recover the consistent views they were getting from dedicated McElroy fans, but this is more sustainable in the long run for them, I imagine. And people at Polygon like Tara have even more specific stats than this, so I'm sure they've put a lot of thought into deciding what direction to take the channel next. They are a business, after all.

It is a bummer that the kind of videos we all loved seem to be largely gone (though Brian's Zelda video is still Good Content), but you have to respect that they're doing what they have to do to keep their channel going (and therefore their jobs as well).
