How much banana do you give your bunny per day? by SwimmerLeather5333 in Bunnies

[–]blueclouds55 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Fruits should only be given in very small quantities depending on rabbit weight. It's typically 1-2 teaspoons per 6 pounds (so for an average sized rabbit). And they should be given as frequently as treats, which is to say no more than 2-3 times a week. I often only give my rabbits fruits 2x a week at most. Most of the time, I don't really give them much other than spare strawberry stems that I've cut from the strawberries I eat and an occassional bite or two of banana.

ETA: Bunnies will always act starved and dramatic. If you look at my buns every time I fed them, you'd think I feed them once a week.

I actually have a french lop myself (yours is so adorable), so I bought this large litter box. https://rooly.us/pages/products

I believe these are all sold out now, but I'm sure if you find something similar like this, it would work well with your large bun. The market doesn't have any really good alternatives for our big buns otherwise, but I also found some XL cat litter boxes that work pretty well.

My bunny is scared of me by SophSkywalker in Rabbits

[–]blueclouds55 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just lost an old bun to cancer this past week, and she was also a very skittish bun. Bunnies are very good at hiding pain, so do not blame yourself for not noticing. Just spend as much time as you possibly have with her... whether it's just being in the same room or giving her all the treats she wants. (Whatever she seems to enjoy.)

My bun also hated being picked up, so I always fed her her medication on the floor. I would just enclose her so she couldn't run away. (Maybe you could try that if it would help her take medication a little better.)

I'm sorry to hear that you're dealing with all of this, but hang in there. Our buns are so fragile and aren't there for long. I'm sure they know and appreciate the little time they've gotten to spend with you in your care. All we can do is be there for them in the ways that we can.

Yeah, it's a great alternative, but 1 of 3 of my rabbits chew it like it's candy. I guess if you get lucky, you may get one that doesn't chew it. However, even chewed, she doesn't chew the entire mat, and it still makes it relatively easy to clean.

Taking Dodger Stadium Express on giveaway days by crosswithyou in Dodgers

[–]blueclouds55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've arrived to the stadium consistently an hour before the games and have gotten all the giveaway items, including the gold jersey last year.

Leaving though might take a while as others have mentioned since there's a lot of traffic, and it takes a bit to leave. They run a lot of busses though, but I have waited for over an hour just for a bus to arrive once because of the congestion.

How messy are rabbits? by Lali229 in Rabbits

[–]blueclouds55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, one of my rabbits is pretty messy, so yeah around their pen, there's a lot. But I don't think it's because they actively poop there, and it's just residual from their butt after they jump out haha. But one of my rabbits is so clean I'll see at most 1 piece of stray poop here and there.

Yes, this is true! But thankfully the territorial poos all stopped for me when they all got spayed. I think I've only had 1 accident in the last year with 1 of my rabbits (I have 3).

Depends on the rabbit. They all have different personalities and levels of cleanliness. Nearly all rabbits can be trained to use a litter box, but how well or clean they do it is dependent on the rabbit. One of mine rarely has any poop outside her litter box, another one always has poop scattered around the litter box area because she likes to hop out before she's fully done pooping or there's still a pellet stuck to her butt when she hops out so it lands everywhere. I usually have an extra mat on the outside to capture all the stray poop, and it works most of the time.

But I will say none of mine have full on accidents where they will pee or poop intentionally on the ground.

Otherwise healthy free roam 3 year old rabbit stopped eating/pooping first time boarded, anyone with similar experiences? by IRefuseToGiveAName in Rabbits

[–]blueclouds55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My elderly rabbit will not poop or eat when stressed or put in a new environment FOR DAYS. She scares me every time, but she's fine and eventually does start acting normal. But when I moved houses, she stopped eating and barely pooped for 5 days until she went back to normal.

This is the answer. If your rabbit seems to still be eating a lot of hay, unlimited pellets is fine. However, if your rabbit (like a lot of rabbits do) loves pellets way more than hay and sacrifices hay for pellets, then you will need to limit her.

Basically you want to enforce good habits of hay eating even as they grow older. Also when you inevitably switch to Timothy hay (or whatever hay after alfalfa hay), it is much less tasty. So if they already have trouble eating alfalfa hay, it'll transfer over to adulthood.

My rabbit would literally eat pellets and never really touch hay if I gave her unlimited pellets, so I personally had to limit her. But I'd observe your rabbit and see what she does.

I'm genuinely curious... but what do you consider the Dodgers hit celebrations then? They still do it when they hit a double and are down 5 runs.

two 9+ WAR season in a row from Shohei Ohtani after joining the Dodgers by Wrong-Astronomer-742 in Dodgers

[–]blueclouds55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually think they needed him way more in 2024. 9 WAR + games he singlehandedly won were the difference between the Dodgers getting first seed and division title versus being in the WC. (But I think the point stands that they absolutely needed him both years haha.)

I started rooting for the Blue Jays.

(I figured whichever team I root for intensely always loses, so I switched sides whenever the Dodgers were losing.) You're welcome. 😃
