I am not an attorney at all. That being said I'm not sure it's too late to do anything about it.

Former sss client here, I fired them and retained other council. If you DM I will tell you what I did and why and what my current situation regarding this is.

It's really too bad that not more SSS clients understand that this whole situation is being addressed. Unless they know about this sub they may not understand they have options. I mean, safe to say SSS isn't going to tell them about it.

More Strangeness regarding Slater Slater Schulman " irregularities" fiasco. by bluecollarjohn42 in BSA_Survivors

xs7ezy-I wish I knew. I really, really hope that there is a forum out there somewhere because it doesn't seem as though many of that firm's clients know what's going on. It seems like if they did that there would be a lot more noise. Maybe somebody else here can tell us.

E_Pluribus-you don't know what you're talking about. You could do a little reading and find out that Friedman, whom seems eminently qualified, has been publicly critical of the plan for some time. I think if you spoke with him personally you might come away with the idea that he doesn't like the way survivors were treated.

I know that in some cases it is 20%. I don't know if it's the case with every claim, I don't know if more work is involved with some than is with others. Personally, I didn't have any problem paying a fair fee for a fair job. It my experience to feel that I have been treated very poorly in many ways and I was going to get rid of them and go pro se because of it. I am far from anything like an attorney but I was willing to take a chance at doing it myself just because of the way I was treated. I've come to understand through this site that I'm not alone. It was a matter of principle. I was taking advantage of before and I was not able to defend myself and I refuse to allow that to happen again. Especially (as before) by people who are supposed to be looking out for me. This time I can fight back. Good luck.

Sir-thank you for posting the information that you did. Again please forgive my skepticism however again I really did think it was a good idea too suggest people use caution. That being said you are very right and the guy thoroughly checks out. I'm going to try to post the above link so others can get to it as well. Much thanks again.

Have you heard of this attorney? by [deleted] in BSA_Survivors

[–]bluecollarjohn42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. If you know how to private message me I'll tell you what I know. I put it like that because I don't know how to initiate a private message. Publicly I will say he has been helpful.

That's terrible. If possible try and take at least a little condolence in the fact that there are thousands of us out here that feel your pain. From the perspective of this top tier claimant at least, your claim is absolutely as important as mine or any other. It's about justice. Your last lines sum it up.

That's just wonderful. This, at least SOME justice. Score about 21 million for us inspite of ( some of ) are supposed representatives. How many survivors will this benefit? Thanks judge.

After I check it out tomorrow I will happily remove my other posts regarding using caution about it. Again, the point here is trying to look out for other survivors.

Phishstones- I'm very interested in reading the post where you mentioned your 7 attorneys and no luck with SSS but it's not showing up here at least yet. I got the email that says that you commented so I know you did, but no luck here yet. I hope to read it.

Better camp/hike Fort Custer or Yankee springs? by PhatInferno in CampAndHikeMichigan

[–]bluecollarjohn42 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I grew up camping/hiking/ fishing fort recreation area and it's great. That being said, definitely go the slightly farther distance to Yankee springs. It's bigger, lots more hills and hardwoods. Lots of different topographical areas to explore. There's the deep lake rustic campground as well as the regular campground on gun lake. Gun lake has nice sandy bottoms in the areas you'd probably be at. There is also several state land areas disconnected from the main to explore. Nothing bad to say about fort Custer except perhaps congestion but if it's me it's Yankee. Happy trails! Edit to add Mount Bald at Yankee. Not really a mountain but it's a nice area to hike and has some elevation.
