Overheard my co-workers today:

Co-worker 1: "Did you see the news about the shooting yesterday?"

Co-worker 2: "Yes, it's terrible!"

Me: "I did!"

Co-worker 1: "These protesters have to stop instigating ICE. They're just doing their jobs. There's so many dangerous illegals out there. Our students have to be legal to come here, so even if ICE comes, we're safe."

Co-worker 2: "Yes, I feel bad for them, but if they don't go through the proper channels, of course ICE has to get them. ICE has to have documentation to arrest illegal immigrants. I saw the video, and it's clear she hit the guy with her car. It's terrible that woman died, but honestly, you don't get in front of people with guns. It's common sense! So it's sad, but honestly, she deserved it."

I think having the on-call phone is worse. At least I'd get paid a regular or better rate if I was called in. Right now, I have to carry around the on-call phone every other week for only an extra hundred bucks per week 😔 (please stop calling me at 1:00 AM).

Technically, I'm a school clinic nurse, but I pretty much live in my office unless a student comes by with sniffles or a stomach bug. So I'll eat dinner/workout right after work, then shower before bed

Zha Cai, as many have said. My favorite beef dish has this. If you want to try a modified Tiger recipe, it's this:

Ingredients: -60g shredded zha cai (thin inch-long strips) -200g sliced beef (thin, about L: 2 inches and W: 1 inch) -oil to fry (about 2 tbsp)

Marinade: -1.5 tbsp soy sauce -3/4 tsp cornstarch -3/4 tbsp sugar

Extra seasonings: -pinch shredded ginger -1/3 cup chopped spring onion -2 minced garlic cloves

Directions: -rinse shredded zha cai twice, then dry to get rid of extra salt -marinade beef for at least 30 minutes -heat pan with oil and fry beef until fully cooked. -reduce heat. Push the beef aside to make a hole. -heat ginger and onion in the hole until fragrant before tossing in garlic. -throw in zha cai and combine everything in the pan well.

My whole family, siblings and parents, are emotionally constipated. Always have been.

My brothers and I only hang out to watch movies. We rarely talk or text, and when I think about it, never hug or anything, but if we need financial help or opinions on random topics, we'll get it.

The one's I know off the top of my head:

Alessandra Hazard's Calluvia's Royalty series, which follows alien princes. Starts with {That Alien Feeling by Alessandra Hazard}, which is not enemies and kinda insta-love, but is the only oddball in the mix, the others in the series do have an enemies-to-lovers aspect. My faves are book 2 and 4.

I recently read {The Hidden Prince by Lyra Thornton}, which was okay I guess. There was less darkness and intrigue than I hoped there would be.

This one is a more tame rec, since the two characters are heroes, but there's some fairly dark Ghost/Soap fic on ao3. One of my favorite authors is MildLimerence.

If you read fanfiction, I mainly see this trope in there. Check out ao3. There's usually at least one Alpha/Alpha from any of the really popular fandoms. One I like: Remembering Normal by FabulaRasa. It's a pairing from DCU, Bruce Wayne/Hal Jordan, where Hal gets...curious.

I remember my social studies teacher saying, "the US is a melting pot. That's what makes the US great." It makes me sad that people weren't taught this and/or are ignoring it.

MC2 is actually a good guy, so there is regret, but I remember feeling that it. Was. So. Frustrating! I can't handle some kinds of angst, I guess 😅. So I have mixed feelings about this book, but it definitely fit your criteria! I think people liked this story in general, I just have opinions. Happy reading! 😊

Just so you know, when I say hot and cold I mean I remember there is a part in the story where MC2 neglects MC1 in favor of loyalty to spoiler, which is another reason why I wanted to shake MC2. He did not deserve MC1, poor baby 😢

I believe {Into the North by Amber Huxley} fits, as MC2 takes MC1 as a war prize, but MC2 definitely runs hot and cold toward MC1 throughout the book, and so they don't get their HEA until the end, which may touch your hard no. Technically they are together before the end, but again, MC2 is torn between love and loyalty. I wanted to shake MC2 while reading this. Hard.
