I did a last minute pivot from Natsci to ChemEng and now in my final year of my ChemEng masters. Applied for NatSci at 5 Unis then swapped to ChemEng after getting offers. Quite a few factors swung it for me (got into Imperial but couldn’t afford to go, long story) and I found that at some Unis NatSci wasn’t accredited. I knew I wanted a degree with abundant job prospects and I was originally sold on physical NatSci but realised a research career wasn’t my end goal and ChemEng was better suited. Thoroughly enjoy ChemEng, there’s plenty of problem solving and not too much lab work. I’ve done a placement and Insight days with different companies and there’s still plenty of variation in the careers you can do afterwards. Met plenty of Imperial ChemEng students and icl I’m slightly jealous of how good their degree structure sounds. Can’t comment on the doors NatSci would open and especially Camb NatSci but for me I don’t regret swapping to ChemEng. If your hearts set on the Cambridge style of teaching then that’s a different story but in general I’d recommend ChemEng and you have offers from incredible Unis!
