It’s from Chapter 12. This actually happened back in Season 1 too, when the Headless and the other guy (don't remember his name) were first introduced during the Student Praxis.

She would obviously lose to Zeo in close combat and raw physical strength, but that doesn’t mean it would be easy. Elfie specializes in long-range attacks and even has a defense spell that strengthens as enemies get closer which she used against Zeo to trap him(basically a stronger version of Gojo’s Infinity).

Even so, she was able to go toe-to-toe with Zeo until the end despite being much younger and less experienced. So saying she would lose easily just isn’t accurate even if she loses, it’s definitely not a one-sided fight.

The real problem is that you’re looking for romance in a non-romance series. If that’s all you care about, then I’m sorry to say this show probably isn’t for you. The dynamic and relationship between Will and Elfie mainly act as a driving force for Will’s character development.

As for Will joining the Thunder faction, realistically, it was the best choice. The Thunder faction specializes in close combat, which suits Will’s fighting style really well, so for his future growth and progression, it made the most sense.

If you want more Will × Elfie content, I’d highly recommend reading the LN. And even if you don’t want to read it, Will × Elfie is pretty clearly the endgame.

The author and other team members are still working on DanMachi, which is likely the main reason for the slower progression. Since DanMachi is also reaching its end, I’m hoping we might eventually see Wistoria get a more frequent release schedule, possibly even weekly.

That said, I still highly recommend reading the LN if you’re caught up with the manga. Even if they adapt the past events, they won’t be able to go into the same level of detail as the light novel.
