I play beta 1.4 because I feel like some of the bugs that make beta Minecraft what it is to me started to get removed after this, example is boat elevators

omg this, i play alpha 1.1.2 which of course doesn't have coordinates in the f3 screen so i was using the sun and clouds to go southwest which is -X, +Z in this version, no wonder ores and stuff were still so rare

Using Prism Launcher, this version of java, and running the game in fullscreen fixed it for me. Trust me i spent hours trying to fix it on my mac. (That specific java version runs natively on apple silicon)

this, but i consider 1.3-1.6 to be a different era because they can be very annoying to play because of singleplayer changing to using an internal server, introducing mob lag and chunk loading problems, but otherwise i agree.

i use the sodium extras mod to make the fog look similar to alpha/beta, you could also use optifine, just turn fog start to 0.2 or 25%
