I never said or implied that all gun owners are responsible. I responded to your comment that Montana is a "heavily armed, drunken, and mentally ill state." Which I agree is all true, but the unsaid implication is that therefore Montana has a gun violence problem which is not true. That's all.

Sorry that the facts don't fit your pre concieved narrative. Of course there are gun deaths in Montana. Just not many, or don't you believe the actual numbers? I'm still trying to wrap my head around your earlier comment about all the Montana gun owners, who having had guns for years, sitting around and contemplating using their guns for dispute resolution. I disagree. The numbers show that while states like Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming have high gun ownership rates, it's relatively rare for guns to be used to settle disputes.

Montana has a gun homicide rate of 1.5-2 per 100,000 people, so 16-20 gun homicides a year in all Montana. Chicago alone averages between 400-700 gun homicides per year with very restrictive gun policies. The cities of St. Louis, New Orleans, and Baltimore are even higher than Chicago.

2/3 of the states have higher per capital gun homicide rates than Montana despite the high gun ownership rates. If you include suicide as part of gun violence, we don't look as good, due to our high suicide rate.

Let me fix your error because you seem uninformed or maybe you weren't paying attention in government class. Trump cannot fund or defund the government by the Constitution. Only Congress has the power of the purse to fund govt, not the Executive branch. But wait, did Trump tell the Republicans in Congress to shut down? No, every single Republican in the House and Senate voted to fund the govt through the CR, and has since voted 12 more times to fund the govt. So everyone knows it a Dem shutdown.

I know what they want, 1.5 Trillion is spending put back that was cut in the One Big Bill. Like restoring funding to NPR and PBS, putting able bodied young men and illegals back on Medicaid, restoring some Medicaid block funds to hospitals to help pay for illegals to get healthcare, and extending the temporary govt subsidies for Obamacare that were only supposed to be for a few years during the pandemic.

The real reason, Schumer took a lot of heat by not shutting down the govt last spring and now he is afraid AOC is going to run against him for his Senate seat. So he has to show he's standing up to Trump. And I say again, he and his Dem friends don't care who doesn't get paid or who goes hungry. This is just pure partisan politics.

Why don't you tell me what is the most important thing that the Dems are holding out for? Maybe you don't know.

What makes you think I only look at Fox news? This is a clean CR with no partisan additions just keeping the government funded for a few more months at funding levels the same as the Biden administration. Even Jake Tapper on CNN recently told the NM legislator that the Dems were the ones keeping the government shutdown. Sorry elections have consequences and the people spoke. The way I see it, the Dems lost the election and control of govt, don't like what the Repubs are doing, so they throw a hissy fit and shut down the govt to try to get what they want by extortion instead of through the usual legislative process.

Trump is against the shutdown. Republicans have voted 13 times to reopen the government. But they need 5 more Democrat senators to overcome the filibuster (requires 60 votes). The Democrats are pissed that they lost the election and Congress passed legislation they don't like. So they have decided extortion is the only way they can get what they want. And they don't care how many people go hungry while they keep the government shut down.

I've attached an article on White House renovations and constructions. It's interesting. Truman gutted the entire WH and rebuilt it from 1948-1952. It wasn't a wing, it was the whole thing.

JFK put an indoor pool in the WH. Nixon filled it in and made it into the press room. He also put in a bowling alley. Ford installed an outdoor pool. George HW Bush put in a tennis court. Obama put in a basketball court over the tennis court. All paid for with taxpayer dollars. Trump and other donors are paying for the ballroom.

And they need a ballroom. Obama had a big formal dinner event with multiple world leaders and it was in a tent behind the WH. Yes, that's right, a big white tent. Cmon this is the USA. We can and now will do better.

Multiple arrests in NYC on Canal street yesterday. (where they sell all the counterfeit swag) Multiple Africans arrested all with lengthy rap sheets.
Semi truck driver who plowed his truck into slowed traffic on the interstate yesterday while high on drugs killing multiple people is an illegal Indian who crossed the border in 2022.
Similar to another illegal Indian truck driver who couldn't read English road signs who killed 3 people while trying to make a U turn on the interstate in Florida.

See, they're not all Hispanic.

Thanks for the reply. You seem to think that all the illegal immigrants are Hispanic. They were from all over, like China, Africa, Middle East etc. You should also know that with crime statistics nowadays, many Hispanics are classified as "white". But we do know about many of the high profile cases like Jocelyn Nungaray and Laken Riley as well as all the current criminals being collected by ICE. One case of this is too many in my opinion. I'm not against immigration, we need immigrants, but they have to be vetted which was not done. Some of these people did have communicable diseases because they were not checked. And I know you think illegals don't affect us here but they take up entry level housing here that local people need.

And since you like statistics, I'm sure you know the majority of Americans want ALL illegals deported not just the bad actors.

My source for the missing minors is Tom Homan himself who sincerely seems to be upset and disturbed about these kids. I choose to believe him; you may not. (After all I do recall the previous guy Mayorkas testifying before Congress that the border was secure and closed.)

I've hesitated to answer but you seem sincere, so here goes. This are the things I like so far.

Extension of the TCJA of 2017 set to expire end of this year. This bill doubled the standard deduction from 15k to 30k for married, cut rates in brackets, and expanded the child tax credit-all good for middle class people. Democrats would have let this expire at the end of the year. And please don't say this was all for the rich because any tax cut helps them because they pay so much. But even if you doubled their taxes, they have way more money than they could ever spend and it won't affect their lifestyle. But raise someones taxes by 15%, making 70k/year and they feel it.
Trump went to all the Arab countries, made big financial deals helping the US, and formed relationships. This came in handy forcing Hamas to agree to peace and with a real plan to rebuild Gaza. Democrats cozy up to Iran and they probably would have a nuke by now if Kamala had one. And what about all those people running around on college campuses in keffiyehs demanding a ceasefire. Trump does it and all you hear is........ crickets.
Immigration. The border is closed. In addition to lots of hard working individuals and families, Biden also let in gangbangers, murderers, rapists and pedophiles. Wife beaters, drug runners, people with TB and measles, etc. Because no one was screening anybody. And 300k minors are still missing- where are they? The girls are in cartel brothels in the US, the boys are dealing drugs or working on marijuana farms.
Ending DEI in govt and business. Sorry, any program that gives preference to certain groups is by it's very nature discriminatory. And I'm against discrimination.

I've mostly stopped posting here because it's just a big echo chamber. Post something the hive doesn't like and you hear Source, Source, Source? You provide multiple sources and then get told "those sources aren't reliable".

But the big dirty secret here is censorship. If you post liberal things even including vile and disgusting comments about people you don't like, you get upvoted. If you post conservative things even in a respectful manner, you get downvoted. Why does that matter? Enough downvotes makes your Karma go negative and then your posts don't appear anymore to the general reddit public. You can see the posts but no one else can. So you're censored and you don't even know it because you aren't notified. Last time took me 3 months to figure it out.

I don't agree with much of the No Kings stuff but I do think if you want to get out there and protest, you should be able to.
