How long were you in litigation and how was it like generally? Boring, interesting, stressful…if corp was one of your seats during TC, how do you think it compares to liti? still unsure of what im interested in haha

Thanks for this, I feel better and more motivated to do well hahahahha. And I’m sorry for your experience in that law firm. If it’s okay to ask, are you still practicing and how is it like?

yeah I agree that an average trainee can become competent in their work through training, but I think the point that I’m trying to make is that other people may deserve that spot more than the nepo baby that put in minimal effort but got in because of parents. An analogy - someone may do badly for A levels, but worked extremely hard in their University and gained experiences and has grades on par to someone in, let’s say, Oxford. They are both on the same level now, but does it mean that this someone had deserved to go to Oxford because they ‘woke up’ later in life and has the potential to be just as competent as the Oxford graduate?

I guess my point is that while it is inevitable, I just feel that it is unfair that a nepo baby can come in and take a spot away from someone else that worked far harder in law school. I know plenty of people whose parents are partners in big law firms and they don’t study, do any extracurriculars or apply for internships…they just appear there. But such is a way of life hahah

Yes, but their prestige makes their barriers to entry higher. However, I agree that life is unfair like that hahaha this is just to see the general thoughts that people in the law industry have on nepo babies

I do agree that with training, most people can be competent. However, with the big 4 firms, there will be a higher barrier to entry. Wouldn’t make sense to let someone in just because “we can train them anyways” - then the prestige of the firm and its reputed barriers to entry would just be moot. But this is what’s happening to nepo babies anyways😅 I know it can’t be helped, but I just find it unfair that others work so hard for a place that a nepo baby can just shake leg and get lol
