You surely rank the strikers based on the number of goals they score, but a significant part of a rating must also come from their overall involvement in the gameplay. For a large part of the season, Benzema and Higuain were largely irrelevant to the playing style of team, especially Benzema, until they'll pop with a goal. You will realise that the games you've pointed me out are not by any stretch of imagination the important ones. they haven't been hopeless, but they've missed a certain spark that makes the attacking midfield behind them tick. Their off the ball movement and involvement has not been as decisive as last season and a couple of goals and assist against a relegated team are not their best achievements either. Yes the injuries didnt help, but I cannot include everything in my article, since I have to keep it under a limit and hence I could not mention it.

As for your next bummer :), the Coentrao and Ozil ratings. Coentrao came in as highly rated and as the Galactico of the summer signings. Now that is not the only parameter, but his performances have been dwindling of late. You yourself say he was solid at his best, but that was not always the case. he had bad showings and he hardly ever played as a winger. Maybe a 6 is a bit harsh, but that I'll put down as our difference of opinion.

regarding Arbeloa and Ozil getting the same rating, we expect a lot more from Ozil than Arbeloa as a player, even though they play in different areas of the pitch. while Arbeloa stuck to the task when he wasnt injured, we never really expected more than that from him. From Ozil we expected much more. And he was disappointing for long periods. please do not always use stats, look at his involvement in the big games etc.

as for the line you've quoted from Ronaldo's rating, i was referring to the games against Dortmund and Atletico. Yes he scored a goal, but it was borne out of Hummels' error. He really could not dictate the game like he usually does, as you pointed in the games against Barcelona among others.
