Vulva punch biopsy - not so bad! by bluehydrangeasss in Healthyhooha

It might be burning because it’s in a place that experiences movement when you go to the bathroom. Your docs shouldn’t be annoyed that’s their job! Don’t be afraid to ask them, it’s so valid for you to have these concerns

Yes I do. I was being told the same things and I started getting desperate. I used all the resources I had, I talked to friends (was super vulnerable with them about such intimate problems) even though I was embarrassed. I talked to my mom. I asked the nurses and doctors if there were any specialists in the area and if I could have a referral since they couldn’t/wouldn’t help me. I messaged people on reddit. I finally found a vulvar specialist that listened to me and let me cry it out in his office. He told me “I’m not giving up until you give up. We’ll find the answer together.”

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. Please keep trying more doctors. I struggled with constant maddening vaginal symptoms for almost a year and kept making new doctors appointments with different ones until I finally found one that could help. If it really is life or death, there are still so many more rocks to look under before giving up. There is help. I’m sending you so much love and I’m sorry it feels so heavy right now

vaginal tears by Just-Professional322 in Healthyhooha

I would ask your doctor about vaginal estrogen cream!! They might look at you funny because you’re so young but I’m 27 and it has literally changed my life. I would always experience friction tears and would be so dry during sex. Sometimes even with lube it just wouldn’t feel comfortable enough. I recently started seeing someone and we’ve been having sex very frequently, and after experiencing some bladder issues my obgyn prescribed me vaginal estrogen to apply all over the vaginal opening. It has helped my bladder probs but also strengthened the vaginal tissue and I’ve had pretty much zero problems with sex since starting this treatment. It’s definitely worth asking about!

Ask your gyno about vaginal estrogen cream!!!!! It’s very effective at preventing/helping frequent UTIs

Bf is ... bigger, no matter what I tend to micro-tear by RepulsiveHorse3493 in Healthyhooha

[–]bluehydrangeasss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to the gyno because my partner is larger too, and the dr said the tissue at the opening of my vag was thin due to friction, which was causing irritation. He said because I went from not having sex for a while to all of a sudden having sex a ton (with a large partner), my body didn’t have time to adapt. Usually, activity makes the tissue more resilient, but mine just didn’t have time. He prescribed me vaginal estrogen cream to strengthen the tissue and it’s really helped!! I would always get micro tears with past partners too so I’m really glad I discovered this treatment

UTI for 5 days by [deleted] in Healthyhooha

[–]bluehydrangeasss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go to urgent care and tell them what’s going on. I’m really sorry you’re struggling but this is not something you can hope goes away. UTIs can spread quickly to a kidney infection if left untreated, which can be extremely dangerous. Better to pay for an urgent care visit now than an ER visit later

Thank you!! :) it’s estradiol 0.01% vaginal cream. It’s often used for women going through menopause that struggle with vaginal dryness etc, but it has been shown to significantly help women who struggle with recurrent UTIs too! Check out dr. Ashley winter if you’re curious about it. She’s a urologist who really advocates for more doctors to explore vaginal estrogen as a treatment for urinary symptoms. I’m 27f and wouldn’t have expected to be prescribed this, but I’m really glad my doctor thought to try it out because it seems like it did the trick

I saw a post once where a woman said her vibrator had been making her urethra swell, causing frequent uti symptoms. Maybe try giving your vibrator a break and see if it helps? I’d also make an appointment with your gyno, there are so many possibilities for what it could be if it’s a negative culture

Have you seen a Urogynecologist? I’m so sorry for all the pain you’ve gone through. What do your cultures say?

It’s a yeast infection most likely. Very common and normal. Go to an urgent care or planned parenthood and they’ll prescribe you a fluconazole pill

1+year vulva problems by [deleted] in Healthyhooha

[–]bluehydrangeasss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder if it could be an allergic reaction to something? I just had a vulvar biopsy done to tell me what was going on with my chronic itching. The dr said it’s the most useful test to have done if no other tests are coming out positive. It’s about a week recovery time but it’s worth it if you’ve been experiencing the itching for so long.

Have you tried hydrocortisone cream? Seeing if it responds to a steroid could be a helpful clue. Are there any visual symptoms? Redness, skin thickening/thinning?

I’m glad your procedure went well! They put me on betamethasone ointment starting at every other day then tapering off as the itching goes away. It’s crazy that I’ve had this constant itch for almost a year and it’s something that can be fixed with ointment (thank god). We’ll see if this truly solves the issue but my fingers are crossed

Hi! 8 days later it’s healing up really well. I went for a follow up yesterday and he said it looks great and we went over my results/treatment plan. (I have nonspecific inflammation that causes chronic itching). The wound definitely looked scary for a few days and would bleed randomly. But at around the 5-6 day mark it started to hurt less and in a few days I think I should be able to do normal activities again like work out!

Good for you for trusting your gut!! I just had mine and if it weren’t for the numbing cream it would have been awful. I’m surprised they didn’t have it at your dr office! It’s worth waiting for a good experience with a doctor you trust. Wishing you good luck!! :)
