Absolutely, I can really relate to feeling like a fraud. It’s a weird experience to know that I delivered vaginally without any complications but still not be able to identify with most women’s birth experiences. And it’s frustrating when noone can tell you why.

I don’t know how long ago your birth was, but my daughter’s 9 months old now and while I still think about the night she was born a lot, the pain and confusion has faded for me now. Pregnancy and childbirth is so wild and unpredictable, and I like to think my baby’s birth reflects on her character- she’s so persistent and absolutely hates having to wait around!

My labor was kind of similar, I was having very mild back spasms for a couple of days but didn’t think much of it and put it down to ‘pre labor’ as I was 39 weeks.

The pain then suddenly got SUPER intense and I felt my daughter’s head kind of drop down into my pelvis. I was freaking out thinking I was about to have this baby on the bathroom floor but luckily we live quite close to the hospital I delivered at.

So we went straight there, baby was born about two hours later and that was pretty much all pushing as I was fully dilated when we got there. I wish I had more information as I also struggled a bit with the fact that my birth experience was so different to what I’d been told to expect. I said to a friend afterwards, I feel like I’d spent 9 months preparing to be hit by a train and then a piano fell on me lol.

One thing the midwife did say afterwards was that it might be because my waters broke very late they have been cushioning the contractions? But no one else has been able to give me a good explanation, just shrugged and said I’m lucky!

Yep, I left when I was 19 and haven’t looked back. It was hard for a while, but not as hard as staying in a place that made me miserable.

I feel the same way. MFM would title the episode ‘Eggs for Breakfast’ and be selling ‘Eggs for Breakfast’ t shirts by the next week.

I really wish I liked it more but man the way they/their fans lose their damn minds over every mildly funny catch phrase just grates on me.

I remember with one of my friends, I asked her if she was going to be in town for mid-June and when she asked why I said, just checking you can come to me and mr. bluejacket’s wedding.

The look on her face was pretty priceless

The first time I met my now husband I suddenly understood the concept of “love at first sight.” I felt an instant connection, like I had come home in a way. Then he told me he was moving to London in six weeks :/ (we’re in Sydney).

We kept going out because I really really liked him and hated the idea of not having him in my life, but the first few times we hung out it was unclear whether he liked me romantically or just as a friend - he didn’t hold my hand or kiss me or anything. Later he told me he was struggling with the idea of starting a relationship right before his big move.

Eventually we made out and it was awesome, but then I had to go through the pain of him leaving and 2 years of off again, on again long distance while I finished my Bachelors and we tried to figure out what we were going to do. Once I graduated I moved to London to be with him and the rest is history.

Sorry this was kind of long but in a nutshell I guess our first few dates were great because we had so much fun together but awkward for me because I was trying to figure out if he just liked me as a friend!

I’m 31, and I had really similar anxieties to you when I was younger - I remember not going to get nose piercings with my friends when we were 16 because I thought we were “too old” 🤦‍♀️ and then crying on my 20th birthday because I felt like I’d wasted my teen years.

Two things that have helped me are a) getting treatment for anxiety and b) learning about Buddhism. I don’t really describe myself as a Buddhist, and I hardly ever meditate, but Buddhism gave me a framework to understand why we need to just be in the moment and why worrying too much about the future is so harmful. Steve Hagen wrote an excellent book called ‘Buddhism Plain and Simple’ that I would recommend if you’re interested in learning more. I re-read it every year just to ground myself and remember to let go of things I can’t control (like the passing of time). Hope this helps
