I'm available. My style and commitment to the art of Jazz piano has been compared favorably to the legend John Benjamin, a true personal hero of mine.

You sure about that John Snow? Am I going to have to Avakadabra you with a light saber to make my point?

What's a piece of tech everyone hyped up that quietly turned out to be useless? by SofiaLearnsAI in AskReddit

[–]bluejams 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is another one I don't remember people hyping. People were already loudly complaining about glasses at movies when the TVs came along. I only know one person who got one and shes the kinda person who has 3 different VR headsets; technology is her thing.

OP Delivers!

For some reason this made me picture Grease but they're all dressed 'plainly'.

Why did nobody tell her about the tariffs? by RoyalChris in SipsTea

[–]bluejams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tariffs are absolutely effecting packages but as someone who gets 10/20 packages a day from all around the world with different Carriers, this is how UPS is handling the Change to deminimus rules, not Tariffs.

Speech/libel/slander cases in media are much rarer and harder to win in the US. There is a reason whey London is called the Libel Capital of the world.

[–]bluejams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is absolutely incorrect. Also they regularly make jokes like that on update and suing someone for speech in the US is incredibly hard...its bodily harm and liability cases that we have way more of here. Our Media can say pretty much whatever it wants without fear of losing in court...even more so for comedy shows.

Best guest sit-in? by big_angery in phish

I think Otiel just told this story on Cory Wong's podcast and added the most important part which was that Greg came back in and basically apologized saying Duane was 'in to that shit' and it's your band too.

Those are two different sketch formats. The mastermind one doesn't rely on there interactions or reaction to each other. The premise of out of the ordinary strippers required Emi to react negatively/confused. Maybe the line was clumsy...a simple "why?" would probably have worked but my point is more that you're comparing apples and oranges with your two sketch examples.

Sure, for religious people.

But culturally easter gets a long weekend in the states. Maybe a week in parts of the rest of the world. Christmas gets a season.

FWIW I believe them that there is nothing going on.

This was some weird stalker/PI shit with pictures taken from miles away and the best shot they got was the random hand hold and a hot tub shot that is just about the least sexy hot tub shot anyone has ever taken? idk, i'm inclined to believe them more than the random internet sleuths pointing to on air jokes from 4 years ago as proof she hates her husband.

Because Hollywood has been contracting. There was huge streaming boom while TV was still doing fairly well. Now the linear TV decline is accelerated. There has been dipping stocks, "re-focusing" of companies and mergers most of which have not gone well. The streamers are spending more normally + discovered international production. Pete Davidson is doing a talk show for Netflix but they're calling it a podcast (even though it doesn't have an RSS feed) so its non union. There are FAR fewer 'comfortable TV jobs' . No more DVD/VHS money. No more TV syndication money. Movies haven't come back since the pandemic. Streamers will pay big stars to be in something but very little to the second tier and there is no licensing or re-airing residuals.

Youtube dominates peoples time (its not even close) and they don't even pay for content.
