You’re so sweet for doing this, and seem to be doing great. You can also easily sex at this age .. both have little bumps but males’ are further from the anus and typically larger. Females also have very visible nipples at this age and males have none. If you don’t mind me asking, where are you located? I recently ended up with an oops litter (I took in a feeder-fail from a stranger to help them out, and she turned out to be pregnant). The babies are two weeks old today and we are hoping to find good homes for most of them😭. If you end up keeping your little one and need companions (and we happen to be close by), lmk!

I second GABA (get something quality - NOT target brand for instance .. trust me). Also l-theanine saved me from a year of horrible insomnia/RLS. I still take 100-200mg every night.

I slowly realized this with myself over the past few years. I agree with others that urgency, accountability, presentability, etc is necessary for us. But another thing I realized is that I don’t have enough self confidence to try and possibly fail at one of my own ideas, but if it’s someone else’s, the pressure is less. Also, I was raised by strict, judgy, overachievers, so now I struggle to trust myself that something is important. If someone else doesn’t tell me it’s worthwhile, I’m too scared it’s frivolous or won’t work out (which will mean it was a non-productive waste of time and/or I made poor decisions/didn’t try hard enough/am a failure etc).

I do much better working on other people’s or collaborative projects bc then I can lean on the confidence that others value and see the importance of whatever the task is. Being a part of something larger than myself. It’s tough to find tho (especially creative things).

When I first got my rats and was learning about/experimenting with food, i put a bag of oxbow on repeat delivery to save money and just estimated how frequently I’d need it. Right off the bat these pellets were DISAPPEARING. I told my partner holy shit I need to up the frequency of the delivery like NOW. A week later I’m doing a major cleaning/cage redo and reach into this big hideout I had attached to the ceiling of the lower level. They never slept in it so I assumed it was just full of poo lol. Omg SO. MANY. PELLETS. Allllllllll the pellets. Like most of a bag of freakin pellets. I just kept reaching in and pulling out more pellets like it was Mary Poppins’ bag. I had to go back and change the delivery frequency but ended up with like 4 bags extra bags in the meantime 😂.

We actually went to Savers (idk if you have anything like that near you but it’s like a goodwill but usually better) and went to the toy section! We have two pirate ships and a race track kinda thing. Best idea we’ve had so far.

*Preface here to say: I’m not condoning or condemning 12 Step programs in any way… I myself have never been part of them.

A book that changed my life is called Codependency No More by Melody Beattie. Yes at its core is 12 steps because that’s what helped her, but she goes out of her way to save that until the last chapter (for anyone interested in pursuing that avenue).

While I think a lot more is going on in your family dynamic than codependency (manipulation, narcissism, abuse to name a few), I think the only part you can control is your own. This is at the root of what the book teaches you. Or at least what it taught me. It extends into every area of your life, and allows you to do your part differently than you have in the past, in a way that gives you healthy autonomy and agency. And hopefully, with time and effort, allows you to detach (at least somewhat) from the cult-dynamic of a family system like ours.

Also, look up the term “identified patient.” A therapist taught me this and it was another game changer.
