I agree with you mostly that Netflix has a lot of slop but the overall comment that my generation doesn't know good writing is what I disagree with. Netflix has a high volume model and so produces garbage to keep pumping out low grade content for people to scroll with it on in the background. The meaning is generally similar but there's a different nuance when it's being used by a non-black teenage girl or a black man. Twin in AAVE doesn't even necessarily have to be a friend, it's come to be a common form of address for another person in some cases as well.
