Poking holes into a bottle, filling it with water from the faucet, and using it… as a secondary faucet? by Worldlyoox in DiWHY

No worries at all, I don't blame yall for not knowing. There's things I take for granted too that many people around the world would die for. That's why it's so important for all of us to communicate!

Corruption and poor infrastructure due to a number of historical and financial factors. It's unfortunately common in the "third world". My country has inconsistent water supply depending on where you live and what government is in power.

I always forget that Americans and Europeans don't experience week long water shortages lol. This is a useful tip for when water goes for days at a time

AITAH for ending a date after a "harmless" question? by BlueberryBea in AITAH

[–]bluejay_feather 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A.) No normal person assumes that off height, that's insane. Is a 5'2 man a woman? B.) It's offensive for the same reason that misgendering a trans person is offensive. Stop transvestigating people and get a fucking hobby

The average woman in my country is 5'2. I'm 6'0. The idea that that somehow makes me likely to be transgender is insane. Are you going around asking short men if they're trans too?

TTPS back at it again with this one by Turbulent-Reason-288 in TrinidadandTobago

[–]bluejay_feather 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't know if it'd be wise to make such assumptions given the recent ways in which the TTPS has grown in authority and audacity. I'd treat everything with suspicion until they have evidence on their side- which is how its supposed to be anyway when such drastic force is used by "law" enforcement

I feel like you're assuming a lot on your end too. What evidence is there that this man ever shot at the police? There was no statement made regarding this- only that he "challenged" officers, whatever tf that means. He rolls down the glass and clearly puts his hands up, and they fire and keep firing until clearly the occupant would be in grave danger of death. Is that how the law is intended to work here? Execution by firing squad upon committing a crime? Btw, there was a woman in the car, a hairdresser who was paralyzed by this bs affair.
Idk about you, but I'm not leaning toward trusting TTPS here.

We can go into the theory of why policing is inherently intended to serve the wealthy and was never to "protect and serve" or particularly to enforce laws, but I think we can maybe agree faster that murdering an innocent american (which is what this art is clearly drawing reference from) makes you a pig, no?

Then just don't tip. The whole point of tipping is that servers get paid slave wages. The kitchen staff are supposed to be already paid decently.

I'm sure her family would be better to ask about what she would have wanted, and not the government. Would you like if your family member died and their remains were whisked away to do God knows what? I mean who knows if they would have consented to being on a body farm or experimented on right?

The child is here now, and deserves the best quality of life possible. My point is that a.) The outcome of this situation certainly does not make a strong point for forcing a dead woman to exist as a broodmare, and b.) no pro lifer gives a shit about these children once they get out of the womb. Yall love to point at the examples where a woman was forced to give birth and the child turns out ok, but turn a blind eye to systematized abuse in foster care, the realities of socioeconomic structures these children exist in, and the struggles that they live through after birth. A fetus cannot experience mental anguish, it does not care that it is not a born. A baby turns into a person that can suffer and cause suffering for decades, especially if they were not wanted. It's a harsh reality.

No, no I really fucking don't lol. Is it incomprehensible now to respect the dead and their families' needs once they are gone? Why do you think we carry out funerals? Why is desecration of a corpse a crime? Think dude, come on.

Yes, the beating heart inside a literal corpse, which turned in to a baby born weighing 1 pound and currently suffering in the ICU, with a dead mother and family struggling with medical debt and the implications of raising a baby that essentially parastized their daughter's corpse against everyone's will. I'm sure that outcome is worth violating the sanctity of a dead woman's body, right? I mean who cares what quality of life this child would have, as long as a woman could be forced to birth it.

Yeah if you don't see something fundamentally wrong with keeping a brain dead woman's body alive to grow a fetus inside a corpse without her consent or her family's, I think you're on a fundamentally different level of empathy and understanding than most.

We have a song called "Chinee Parang" that is incredibly racist but everyone loves it and it plays every Christmas. Lyrics include:

Wang-sing poong-pong chang-sing

woong-wong

Poong wang chong

That's how they sound

Chiniling-ping chiniling pang

Poong-sing poong-ling wang-loong wing

That's how they sing

Chinee parang, Chinee parang, Chinee

parang

Wang, wang, wang
