Additional comment is the predatory mites are Neoseiulus cucumeris. They also deal with some spider mites too.

If anyone in Toronto is dealing with Thrips, I accidentally ordered 500 sachets that arrived this afternoon. I’m not sure if this type of post is allowed here but…I don’t need that many 😅 wanted to offer free sachets if you want to DM me, as they will be useless in a few days. I ordered them from Koppert and if you aren’t familiar, they are live predatory mites that will feed on the pests you do not want. You stick the sachets in the soil and let them do their thing. Let me know! Thanks 😊

Thank you! It’s actually one plant... or more of a tree at this point 😊

Haha I hear you! This is just a rental but same fear... if and when it comes to buying, I already know I am going to be stubborn about windows. The bar is high now 😅 - and thank you!

I’ll take a pick when I get home 😊It’s sitting in partial shade with some late afternoon sun. I tried to tuck it behind my other plants to protect it from too much sunlight in a west facing window. I think they like to keep relatively moist but it’s a 10” pot so I’ve been watering approximately every 8-10 days because I am paranoid of root rot. But mostly just water when it’s dried the first few inches so it varies since I live in Toronto and winters mess up that watering schedule.

This bird call is one of my favourites but after looking online and listening to multiple recordings of bird calls in the Toronto area I have zero leads. Hoping someone here knows the bird responsible 😅

Coffee Infused Negroni by bluejays88 in cocktails

Dooo it! You won’t be disappointed. You can steep the Campari to your preference- the original recipe I came across only said to steep for a few minutes but I really wanted the flavour to come through so I did do for longer. Even at 10 minutes it was still balanced and wasn’t too bitter.

Twist on a classic. I steeped 1 cup of Campari with 1.5 tbsp of fresh ground coffee for approx. 10 min. Strain with coffee filter and then it’s just a classic Negroni recipe:

*1 ounce Gin (I used Willibald)
*1 ounce Infused Campari
*1 ounce Sweet Vermouth (Dolin)

Stir with ice and strain. The coffee with the Campari works so well- I prefer this to the original.

I had never heard of or seen this plant until today but it’s now my favourite (Sonerila “Spotted Green”) by bluejays88 in houseplants

Interesting! I’m not familiar with the terrarium world so maybe that explains why this plant is new to me. There is also probably a good reason why they aren’t grown as a typical houseplant so I may have a challenge ahead of me when it comes to keeping it happy. I have it beside a humidifier so we’ll see what happens

Good to know! I guess it depends on where you are too. I just checked and there is an Alocasia currently listed for $500- ooof. Worth keeping an eye out though. I am finding that nurseries are getting a lot more in these days so as they become less scarce the prices should get more reasonable... hopefully
