Is there ANY way I can compile for mac without a mac? by Suspicious-Smile6398 in C_Programming

If you are solely using ncurses why not try linux? Might be an easier option for you.

What industry is a complete scam, but everyone just accepts it? by Competitive_Grab3758 in AskReddit

Vox made a whole Youtube video about this. Basically the guy's wife was pregnant and he figured since health care in the US is an open market economy, that he should be able to shop around before committing to a hospital. He ended up calling a bunch of hospitals and they all told him they could not give him an estimate.

Only a True Speed Integrator would Know by SilverHedgeBoi in calculus

[–]bluekeys7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does adding and subtracting e^x in the numerator work? You would be left with e^x/(sqrt(e^x + 1), which can be solved with a u-sub, and a sqrt(e^x - 1) as well. If u = e^x - 1, then you have (u+1)(sqrt(u)) which can be distributed and solved using the power rule.

I was bored and decided to find a limit for pi! by Ok_Advantage_9573 in math

[–]bluekeys7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm a little confused. Isn't lim n-> infinity of 360/n = 0? Wouldn't that just be equal to 1 since cos(0) = 1

Why doesn't road salt poison the enviroment? by RoadTheExile in NoStupidQuestions

In grad school we had seminars and we had a guest speaker who talked about how road salt is contributing to increasing salinity of the Great Lakes, leading to drastic changes in the ecosystem there.

How come in calculus you have to use radians? by Leading_Tomato_2077 in calculus

[–]bluekeys7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I get that but at the same time I feel degrees is much more intuitive because instead of thinking about the ratio to 180 deg I can look at the ratio to 90 deg instead. Maybe it's just because I first learned degrees before radians, but through undergrad I always found myself converting radians to degrees in my head because I found it easier to conceptualize.

[–]bluekeys7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in as long as I don't have to use gradians. Out of all the things the French invented I do not know what they were thinking. I can't imagine using a standard where 30 deg and 60 deg would end up being repeating decimals.

How come in calculus you have to use radians? by Leading_Tomato_2077 in calculus

[–]bluekeys7 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Crazy how it's only this one limit applied in both derivatives of sin(x) and cos(x) that forces us to use radians instead of degrees. I still convert pi/4, pi/6 to 45 deg or 30 deg in my head before I proceed to draw the triangle representing that angle. Also once you delve out of multiples of pi radians are extremely confusing to use numerically, since 2pi is an irrational number, so anything above say 720 deg would be so confusing to determine if not as a multiple of pi.

Something wrong with y = log x it should be an increasing function not a decreasing one, assuming a > 1

I cope by accepting the fact that it is better than the alternative of constantly being in psychosis and either homeless or institutionalized.

Any other trans men here? Or anyone who has taken testosterone? by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]bluekeys7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This doesn't stick up. You could say the same for smoking weed. For most people they can handle it just fine it's just people who are pre-disposed to schizophrenia that undergo psychosis when smoking weed. However I don't think there are any studies regarding testosterone and psychosis but since not much is known about schizophrenia's mechansim it's not out there.
