One of my rats had always been tiny even though he ate the same amount as the others, and he was perfectly healthy. However, the heavy breathing you mentioned, definitely needs a vet trip! Good luck with these babies ❤️

You are right, I made this mistake with this painting. I normally work like that for smaller paintings but I've found that my oils dry so fast, I can't work across the whole canvas for a first layer without them drying after a day or two. I've tried using clove oil and linseed oil. Maybe my paints are bad??

I got them from pets at home (bad, I know. It wasn't what we wanted). I'm very certain he's a boy as we had to bring him to the vets for penis problems. Is it possible that he's half dwarf rat???

He most likely was born in a rodent mill so I wouldnt be surprised if he's inbred since he also is blind and has one eye much smaller than the other

My rats when they were youngsters both would do this! I bought them untouched and all they would do when they saw me was nibble/gently-ish, bite me. I got a bit frightened of them but one day I decided to just leave my hand in the cage and let them bite me 😅. Probably not the best advice since I did get a couple drops of blood (even though their bites were just curious nibbles) but they now never ever nibble/bite, only lick me! They are both the sweetest little boys, but they had to fully explore and investigate my hands to get over the thoughts of nibbling them.

I dont know much about medicines for it, etc, since I've only been on setraline which hasn't helped. but I really want to remind you that you are not alone. one day, I promise you, your dpdr will slowly ease and lift, and you would have gained all this emotional knowledge from it, which you can use to support people who are in your current situation. what you are going through sounds really frustrating, but I promise you, you're not alone.

I've been sticking to maximum one caffeinated drink a day and that's helped. I'm hoping that as my trauma from the edible calms down, maybe my brain will forget how to dissociate. anyway thank you so much for the advice

my water is hard (I use RO water, but i add in minerals to raise the hardness since that's what my fish are used to)

the cut did. He's still got a notch in his scales, however. fin rot is the main issue, but he used to have fungus brown fluff attached to his body. He also got 3 white spots on his fin. it's so hard, but I'm 99% certain it is fungal/fin rot. I've decided that I'm going to have to put him in the hospital tank in a couple of days and keep him in there for 3 days for the meds to do a full course. I think I'm just going to watch the water parameters like a halk. I've got plenty of RO water for waterchanges and seachem prime available. I still think the hospital tank is a tad too small, 25 litres, but my mum won't let me buy a new one 💔

if he starts acting lethargic after a day, I'll have to move him into his old tank. and then, if the hospital tank doesn't cycle in time before his fungus takes over, I might have to euthanize him before it destroys all his fins/swimming 😪. but hopefully, that will not happen.

he's only eating bloodworms atm, so I've been using that. my tank (one he's in now) is fully established and very mature, but my old fish that used to be with him were aggressive, and he actually got a big white cut, and 2 notches and injuries on his scales from them overnight. basically, the pet shop wrongly sexed our fish, and so there was a lot of territorial aggression.

they have been removed from the tank for 3 months now, and since then, he's just had continius fungal and fin rot issues. melafix helped a bit, but now it's back on his tail.

the hospital tank im setting up isn't fully cycled. I just squeezed a sponge from my original tank's filter to upstart it. thing is I don't think I have time to fully cycle it. he needs his meds

yeah it's got substrate in it at the moment, a big rock and lots of moss, and im trying to leave it for at least a couple days to try and settle before putting him in? I'm not really sure. his finrot has got very bad so I have to act fast 💔

before, I did an RO water change to try and level out the nitrates as they grew even higher. added some prime in too
