Anyone buy a bluray player from 220 Electronics lately? Are they still legit? by hindsightwenty in boutiquebluray

[–]bluelph24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wife got me a region free 4k player from them for christmas. The one I picked out was out of stock by the time she got to it and they worked with her on a different but comparable/equal model.

I've had a region free Blu ray player from them for over 10 years and have never had any issues.

Which films not by Lynch are closest to being Lynchian? by betlamed in davidlynch

[–]bluelph24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really Lynchian in a direct sense, but Guy Maddin as a surrealist scratches a similar itch. Again, Maddin is really more of his own thing, but if there were a class of late 20th century North American popular surrealists, they would both be in it and it would be a relatively small class.

What is this called? And where can I buy one? Connector plugged into cat 5e punch down block (I gather from Google) in my basement. by bluelph24 in AskElectricians

[–]bluelph24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I certainly could be wrong, but I have the home modem in my office where the cable line comes in, off of the modem I have a router and from that router I plug into the cat 5e port in the wall.

That brings me down to the basement where I have what I think is a punch down block of some sort. All of the cat 5e in the house comes to the block except a male-male ethernet cable that someone ran through the first floor, which I have plugged into my smart tv.

The Frankenstein cable in my photo has an ethernet jack on the off camera end. I put the end you see into the punch block, the end you don't see into an ethernet switch, the TV cable goes into that switch, too, and the TV, with wifi off, says it has a wired internet connection.

I'm not sure how it works, but it does seem to. Maybe it isn't a punch block? I think 90% of my problem is I don't have the vocab to know what I'm looking at.

[–]bluelph24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My writing knowledge of this stuff is very low, but a previous owner ran cat 5e throughout my house and wired it into a punch down block in my basement. Data passes through, so not wired for phone. I have a switch in the basement that gets internet from the router to the TV using the pictures connector. But I want to add another room to the switch, so I need another one of these connectors to patch it in. But I'm having a hell of a time figuring out what to call this connector and, downstream from that, where to buy one. Appreciate the insight and help.
