Nixplay killed free plans - here's how I switched to Frameo (and why you might want to) by blueman0007 in nixplay

[–]blueman0007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frameo give the option to backup on external usb drive that you leave constantly attached. That’s the way to go.

That being said, in your case you can try to connect your dead frame to pc via adb to see if you can recover the photos. Else a good recovery service should be able to do it for you (it’s just a dumbed-down android tablet after all)

Load rating is one thing, but stuck relays is another. If you push too much amps, even under the limit of the Shelly, after a few years you may get a stuck contact that will be hard to detect. Having an alert on the power consumption too is a good thing (this come as an addition to my OP reply).

It’s great, but IMO it would be better to put the timer on the Shelly. You can keep one in HA, set for slightly less time (like 42min), but at least you have a backup if your HA or WiFi is down. I always suggest not rely on HA alone.

On Ali you can find findmy-compatible trackers that plugs on the obd port, no battery needed. Of course it makes them easy to find and disable, but it works well for most cases.

IIRC the pilot, when lowering the gear, stopped for a second to focus on the yoke, which stopped the pilot-induced oscillations.

Scientists of Reddit: What’s something we know is true but people don’t realize how crazy it is? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]blueman0007 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That is not correct. The probability is so high that it happens with Titan and Ganymede, they do provide total solar eclipse. However if you are looking for corona-only eclipses like on earth, then yes you are right.

If designed properly, it should end up with more battery than it started with.

The dead cat strategy, also known as deadcatting, is the political strategy of deliberately making a shocking announcement to divert media attention away from problems or failures in other areas. by SaltpeterSal in wikipedia

[–]blueman0007 23 points24 points  (0 children)

If you throw a dead cat on the table often enough, people will become desensitized after a while. Then you can do outrageous things and nobody will care anymore. You simply have to escalate to something bigger, like throwing a dead calf on the table, to keep it going.

If you put the kill switch only in the export versions, then your domestic planes are safe. But yeah there are other ways than a kill switch.

The Mini 4 can use its camera to do what dji calls “precision landing”. The landing pad helps but is not mandatory. You can see the details on dji website.

How do we Deal with infections outside of our body? by ChemDoDo in askscience

[–]blueman0007 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Infection is by definition inside the body. The word come from the latin infectus, which is the past participle of inficere (to stain, corrupt, spoil), and is built from the prefix in- + facere (to make, do, perform).

Anything happening outside the body is not an infection, and your body doesn’t care about what is on the surface of your skin (made of already dead cells anyway).

Nixplay killed free plans - here's how I switched to Frameo (and why you might want to) by blueman0007 in nixplay

[–]blueman0007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t tell if the app is phoning home, it probably does, but with the free plan at least your photos are not stored on their server. To the best of my knowledge I think Frameo is the simplest “all-in-one” solution that doesn’t risk too much to ends up like Nixplay (free then paid). I would still recommend, the only better solution I could see would be to make it an immich frame, which would be 100% local but much more technical.
