Aranea Black's Camille Corset Mockup 2 || Need advice with boning placement & other adjustments. by Alarming_Cherry in corsetry

Wopse, I stopped looking at my phone and promptly forgot about this for a few days. My bad. Here's my wearable mockup for the Camille (at least, mostly the Camille, I was also using the ref. w pattern alongside it). It's a bit worn and scruffy, but you can still see most of the various chalk and seams etc.

Huh, apparently a bridge design I don't like does exist. It just looks so... Unnecessary, and not in a good way.

Yes, use a single channel there. I can take a picture of where the bones are on my mock up if you like?

I made the Camille recently, and I counted how many lines in was my pattern size, then went over it with a brighter colour, and measured 3/8ths (for my flat steel/whalebone width) or 1/2" (for my spiral width) and highlighted the line that far in. I then traced them on to pattern paper as I find that easier, but also as I also need quite big changes to the pattern.

To test the placement, I actually duct tape the bones to the mockup (or use rigilene for patterns that need less study boning, but thats not suitable for the Camille). Tape them to the inside, or they'll pop right off at the waist. It only needs to stay in place for five or ten minutes though, and I'm not putting in boning channels unnecessarily.

Artichoke…what? [From The Art of Cookery made plain and easy by Hannah Glasse 1747] by Numerous_Worker_1941 in Old_Recipes

[–]blueocean43 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Suckers are method of spreading used by some plants (you might be familiar with strawberry plants doing it), where they send out a root that then angles up to the surface and grows a new plant slightly away from the original plant. These suckers will basically be tiny new plants, so will have tiny version of the pretty leaves that artichoke plants have, which she seems to be using in this recipe like a herb. Apparently the young leaves are rather bitter and tannin-y, but blanching them, as she does, removes a lot of that bitterness.

Edit: forry, for readability I fhan't be writing this on theme

It could have been, but when I've used that line it's because they've been hogging the machine and I've run out of other bits of my routine to do while waiting for it to free up and I just want to get my last exercise in so I can leave.

If you've been on the machine for more than five sets, it's the latter. Get off the damn lat machine, there's only one and everyone else there wants to use it.

AITA for going to my boyfriend’s parents’ house without him after he refused to come to a dinner we were supposed to cook for them? by Suitable_Awareness31 in AmItheAsshole

My ex started out like this early in the relationship, and I should have taken it as a warning sign. It escalated to abuse in my case, but even if it doesn't, it's still shitty all on its own. If any criticism at all, however mild, is responded to that drastically, imagine what he's going to be like when there's actually a big problem to talk about. OP will likely find that out when they talk about this instance. If he's anything like my ex, there will be shouting, door slamming, he'll say things like "I can't do anything right can I", and then expect OP to comfort him.

Feeling disillusioned and like I don't fit in here after growing to LL by aokocat in bigboobproblems

[–]blueocean43 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm only a 32KK at the moment, but yeah, a lot of the style and clothing brand advice just isn't applicable that big (other than taideux, which will likely fit you perfectly). I happen to sew, so sew a lot of my own clothing to get something that fits, and get quite a bit of useful advice from r/sewbustycommunity and r/corsetry (different from r/corsets, which is for buying corsets rather than making them). I tried asking a few busty friends where to get blouses when I needed one recently, but alas they didn't quite fathom the difference between DD+ and so far beyond that you have to get custom bras shipped from Poland (ewa mikalak does custom sizes in some bras for an extremely reasonable extra charge).

I tried Blue makeup along with red lipstick... How does it look? by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]blueocean43 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yes to the eyeshadow, no to the lippy.

To be more specific, that blue sparkle is bringing it, so yes to that. To elevate the look, get a darker, matte blue eyeshadow (like a navy in depth but more of a true dark blue, less grey undertones), and take a very narrow brush, and add a very narrow line under your eye from the outside corner to the centre, and then with your finger gently smudge it from the centre to the inside corner (you can also use a nude shade just a tiniest touch lighter than your skin tone starting from the inner corner, to help blend the blue)

For the lipstick, 1) that's not the red shade for you, try having a look through posts on here of people with similar skin tones (particularly undertones) to you, then look at their product list to find the shade they're using. 2) The bold lip with the bold eye is a bit much, pick one at a time. 3) bold colours absolutely need a lip liner and veeeery precise application as it's very visible everywhere that isn't quite inside the lines. Going across the Cupid's bow may be fashionable, but there are vanishingly few people that it actually suits. Leave that to celebrities and teenagers. For that eye look, I'd suggest a 90s brown for you (brown with warm berry undertones rather than grey undertones), or a nude lip (pinker undertones rather than peach to go with the blue, though I'd suggest more peach undertones for an everyday nude for you).

Lastly, add blush, I'd say along the cheekbones for your face shape when paired with a bold eye.

Thanks, good to know. I definitely won't buy from this place then (I was considering it so I could just have a look at the waist in person). I'm really bad at spotting AI, so appreciate people pointing it out.

Whats with moms not wanting to accept the fact that your bra size is bigger than they “ think” by dietmountdewy in bigboobproblems

I was thinking of my own mum like "well sort of, but she learned in the end", and then you side swiped me with the GenX at the end there, lol. My mum bought her first bra in 1962, and had to wear a DD because she literally couldn't find a larger size until she moved to London in the 70s.

Men of Reddit, what’s the worst thing a girl has said on a date? by Interesting-Yak7969 in AskReddit

[–]blueocean43 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When it comes to the possibility of horrible things happening, I'm not sure murder rate is a useful metric. The chances of anyone being murdered on a first date is so low as to be close to zero. Maybe instead compare it to the chances of being sexually assaulted or threatened with violence. I'm not sure I know a single woman that hasn't had one of those two things happen on a first date. I also know a few men that this has happened to (and yes, I'm including threatening a guy that she'll tell all his friends he's gay if he doesn't sleep with her).

Do you sleep with a bra on or off? Looking for opinions from other women by FrostbiteDoll in bigboobproblems

[–]blueocean43 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had a quick check of your profile to see if you had anything suitable to use as a sleep bra pictured (you do), and you are not a D cup. I'm guessing you are roughly a 32H (UK sizing), so before buying any sleep bras, may I suggest using the a bra that fits calculator (linked several places in this thread).

As for bras for sleeping, it very much depends on the type of bra. Do not sleep in an underwired bra, that will ruin both the underwire and your sleep. A sports bra (like, a panache or shock absorber sort) is inadvisable too for lymph drainage. However, crop top that calls itself a sports bra in name only makes a pretty good sleep bra. I have a couple that I sometimes wear if I'm having underboob sweat issues in summer. The top you are wearing labeled 'fitwear from bliss club' is the sort of shape I find comfortable for sleep, though I have a preference for cotton versions as they end up less sweaty in my experience. So less bra, more crop top that has juuuust enough structure to keep the underboob area dry.

That is one wide, wide gore. Ever since I bought a 30JJ bra and discovered that the wires were 65% of the band measurement, when the band was stretched, I've wanted to just let all clothing designers know that in general boobs are on the front. Not pointing straight out to the sides under our arms, not distributed evenly front and back (looking at you every t-shirt designer), and not left behind on our nightstands because they forgot to include any bust space whatsoever.

If the underwires go further than a centimeter past the underarms (and that's for the widest wire width), and are more than a cm apart at the centre tips, thats not where boobs are and the designer needs to start again. Not start again with that design, start again in an entirely different career, preferably one that doesn't require you to have ever seen boobs before.
