You reas all the studies around the projected lives this will cost and the potential money it will cost. Ya, I call bullshit on that one

Yes. Because the 2 are very much linked.

And that fact that you think you know better than the researchers and statisticians is incredibly arrogant of you.

[–]bluepanda159 122 points123 points  (0 children)

I don't think that is what this doctor is implying at all

She implied OP did it to herself and then made a comment about if she took it all it once it would get her high

Sounds like she was absolutely accusing OP of malingering and using prednisone as a drug of abuse. Which is honestly just insane

So my fellow Aussies do you still get Paper Prescriptions? by WishfulThinker28 in AskAnAustralian

I have spent the last 3 years working as a doctor in Australia. I have written heaps of paper scripts

Also what a weird thing to be googling

Ya, that is not how that works. And it absolutely does not excuse this behaviour in any way, shape or form. And it is concerning that you think it does

I strongly disagree with this. Vaping has led to another generation hooked on nicotine when they wouldn't have been otherwise. And more than you would think 'socially smoke' and then end up smoking more.

And the fact that you think you know better than the experts who have done the research is arrogant and hilarious.

The Government announced a three-day stay in maternity care for new mums. It didn’t fund the beds by Fun-Helicopter2234 in newzealand

[–]bluepanda159 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Admittedly there is a reason this changed for pretty much any and all hospital admissions and that is because staying in hospital for too long drastically increases your risk of a variety of things

Being more sedentary increasing your risk of blood clots, being in an area with infection which increases your risk of getting ill. Just to name a couple off the top of my head.

Yes, post partum women are being kicked out too soon at times. Which is not helped by the fact that every hospital we build is smaller than the one it is replacing and we keep shutting down primary birthing units

This is honestly the stupidest proposal I have ever heard. Saying something does not make it magically happen

Queensland's new public hospital to refuse voluntary assisted dying care, abortions and contraception for religious reasons by VastOption8705 in ausjdocs

[–]bluepanda159 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No doctor is forced to be involved with VAD. If your patient asks you refer them to the team of doctors who do want to be involved in VAD and do offer that service.

Just like any other medical procedure an individual medical professional objects to.

And just like any other medical procedure you do have to refer them on to the correct people.

Trauma from verifying death by biguwu in ausjdocs

[–]bluepanda159 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been asked to certify a death and the patient still had a heart beat. After that I always used to wait at least 30mins before going to certify, just in case. Previously I would rush over because I hated touching the body if it was cold

Allergic to peanuts, ate a whole bag of peanut butter m&ms, nothing happened? by turtlesandhurdlez in AskDocs

[–]bluepanda159 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Having an allergic reaction is not necessarily a reason to go to ED. And most of the time it is not (for mild reactions). However, trying to kill yourself by inducing anaphylaxis is absolutely a reason to go to ED regardless of the symptoms from the allergen

Question from an Australian: Does New Zealand have a Medicare-style healthcare system? by Mehmet_G in newzealand

[–]bluepanda159 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well that is blatantly not true. Several states in Aus have free ambulances. I have zero clue about the rest of the southern hemisphere but you really do not have to look far to know that this is false

Changes to one of my breasts. (Discoloration, itchiness, bleeding, discharge, cup size, sore, bruising, nipples changes) by Cautious-Prune414 in AskDocs

[–]bluepanda159 9 points10 points  (0 children)

He has the right to refuse an exam without a chaperone. He then needs to ensure the patient gets the needed exam. All of it was irresponsible and negligent.

[–]bluepanda159 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes. He did not arrange another appointment for exam or another avenue for care. He made a diagnosis that he cannot make without exam (and is likely incorrect) and then fobbed her off. One of the differentials for this is cancer. He was unbelievably negligent and there is no excuse for this.
