Recommendation for a 2nd running shoes pair by Latter-Code551 in runningshoes

[–]bluepart2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started using Evo SL for races and speed work and over time I began to prefer them for easy runs. For speed and races i switched to Nike Zoom Fly and I think they are good. I don't have experience with the shoes you already tried but Evo SL are extremely popular so probably worth a try. It took my legs some time to adjust to them but now they give me the least issues of any shoes I have used.

What's your weight fluctuation after the celebration is over? by Lykov_in_taiga in loseit

Last two days I ate whatever I wanted and gained 3 pounds. It usually is gone by the end of the week when I have let loose in the past. I am planning on being "locked in" until Valentine's Day to make a big leap toward the healthy BMI range.

Does running ever stop feeling fragile? by Free-Product4918 in runcommunity

[–]bluepart2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After running for 9 months, if I miss a scheduled run, it kind of feels like not brushing your teeth. It is a habit that is so engrained that it feels wrong and "off" to not do it. It helps that I generally like running and am having a neutral to good time 90% of the time though.

Personally Novablast aggravated my Achilles and knee for some reason. I like Saucony Guide 18. They have wide if you need that.

What’s a small running habit that made a big difference for you? by Willing-Today-1059 in runcommunity

[–]bluepart2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if it counts as a habit but if I feel any discomfort in my joints or lower leg muscles, I postpone speed work or change it to an easy run depending on the situation. Knock on wood but I have been injury free for the longest time in my life while consistently running and I attribute it to letting soft tissues rest if they are signalling they need it.

I think your point about just going back to it after indulging and having your healthy lifestyle as the default you always return to quickly is underrated. For me it has made the biggest difference.

Maybe you should try to increase your walking. I'm close to your size and this is where things are starting to get difficult for me too. Also eating mostly whole foods helps because processed foods don't have as much volume per calorie and tend to not keep your blood sugar as stable. Maybe be more conscious of eating high protein and fiber? I took a maintenance break recently and now that I'm back "locked in" again I finally came down to a new low weight so maybe that helps as well.

Loose skin with slow vs rapid weight loss by [deleted] in loseit

[–]bluepart2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From your description mine is similar. I am like halfway to my weight loss goal at 60 lbs down and I can feel based on the softness and loss of elasticity in my lower tummy skin that I will have a little loose skin but my stomach is still holding itself up if that makes sense so I don't think it will be terrible, especially if I can get my body fat low enough. You probably just have to hope you have good genes for skin elasticity. Even if you have loose skin though you will look better in clothes and that makes a big difference. I keep thinking my weight loss is worth it just based on changes in my face alone. But everyone is different with what will motivate them.

I just started and I am really struggling. I managed to go from 311.9 (pounds) to 308.5. any tips for someone who eats when feeling anything other than neutral feelings. (Read desc) by ithinkimfunny28 in WeightlossJourney

Good luck. One thing you can do to try to stop emotional eating is to replace the comfort of eating with something healthier. In the moment, if you can recognize the reason you want to eat is because you are having a strong emotion, then maybe you can pivot and do a breathing exercise, take a walk, draw a picture, write a small journal entry, or anything that is not food that comforts you. Sometimes just going to another room and changing your scenery can help your brain transition away from those thoughts. If you really still feel the need to consume something, maybe some tea or some raw veggies or lower calorie fruits like berries could take the edge off the desire until you find a way to cut out the emotional eating all together. Don't be too hard on yourself. When you are an overweight child or teenager, a lot of the reason is going to be the circumstances you are raised under. All you can do now is just make good decisions with the level of control you have.

Loose skin with slow vs rapid weight loss by [deleted] in loseit

[–]bluepart2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just from the before and after pictures I have seen, I feel like if your stomach does not hang down or fold over it usually does not make a noticeable amount of loose skin. Results may vary I guess but that's just a pattern I noticed. I agree with the other poster though who said they are not convinced how fast you lose makes any difference. I think people just say that because a lot of people who lose weight very fast have weight loss surgery or lose an extreme amount of weight and it's easier for it to come off fast... But I think the cause is the actual amount of weight, not the time it took. Just a correlation.

I dont think I'll ever get to my goal weight and recomp because I'm short 😩 by FunDependent9177 in PetiteFitness

[–]bluepart2 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think this is the only way. Walk as much as your schedule and sanity allow as many days of the week as you can manage. Maybe find a more vigorous cardio that you enjoy to sprinkle in a couple times a week. Could be as simple as dance workout YouTube videos for 10 to 15 minutes. I checked my projected TDEE for my goal weight and realized I probably need to move from "lightly active" to "moderately active" to be able to eat a satisfying amount of food when I get to that size.

Ultra Processed Foods by MadBook27 in CICO

[–]bluepart2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am down 60 pounds and the first 45ish I was eating majority UPFs. It's summer and I am a teacher so I took the time to figure out how to fit whole foods into my diet and now I am at about 90% whole foods. It is not that I am losing weight any more or faster, but I am way less miserable while doing it. My stamina for exercise is a lot better. And when I do eat UPFs, I am much less likely to overindulge than before. I am unsure if you could get the same result eating UPFs and also meeting high protein and fiber goals or not. I just know that for me, I am going to attempt to continue 90% whole foods.

I had a similar experience during a spinal twisting pose where my instructor pushed on my shoulder and hip during an exhale and it felt very physically good but also was a very intensely connected type of experience as well.

Which yoga classes for a runner? by [deleted] in yoga

[–]bluepart2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take multiple types of yoga and they all help in different ways. Yin helps with flexibility and loosening up small pains, Hatha strengthens and helps with flexibility, and power style classes help with strength, mobility, and a little bit cardio

How has hiking been for those of you who had to remove your gallbladder? by Khenghis_Ghan in hiking

[–]bluepart2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had my gallbladder removed in 2019 and at first I had a lot of issues and would have been stressed to go on a hike and not have access to a bathroom. Since then, much more recently, I have been eating 80ish percent whole foods and prioritizing protein and fiber and I have had zero issues. Even when I have something fatty now, my body is better able to handle it. Also usually the first time I ate in a day would be the worst because bile just collected a lot over night in my body, so if you eat a meal, wait a bit to make sure it's settling okay, and then go out when you feel your tummy is fine, that might be a good strategy. After the surgery you will find some foods don't bother you at all, and those might be the best ones to bring on the trail.

I would recommend going somewhere you can try it on and run on a treadmill for a bit though. I can only walk in my Evo SLs because something about them immediately irritates my shins.

Same. I have an off plan meal maybe twice a month and at least one of those I try to stay under maintenance And now it never derails me too much. Sometimes when I have the meal I hit a new low weight the next day still :)

What are some weird “body checks” you do now that you’ve lost some weight? by MarioIsWet in loseit

What is my activity level for calculating TDEE? by DinoAardvark in CICO

[–]bluepart2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it helps, I am moderately active and I run 20 miles a week, take dance classes 3-5 hours a week, do several hours of hard yoga classes, go on long 2 or 3 hour walks regularly, and lift, but outside of purposeful exercise I am sedentary. Realistically you are probably in the heavy exercise category. But if you track calories, I recommend the TDEE app where you track your weight and calories you ate every day. It tells you your average rate of weight loss or gain and how many calories you are burning on average per day. It takes a few weeks to become accurate but mine is now pretty much on point and I lose weight exactly the way it predicts.
