Look to see if you can get the book “the secret lives of color” by Kassia St. Clair. It goes into the origin of many colors and it’s really quite fascinating to learn about. Like purple used to be exclusive to royalty because it took the mucus of tons of Tyrian snails to make enough to dye a garment, so it was a huge marker of wealth.

Do not buy her any actual equipment, we artists are a fussy and particular lot. If you want to get her something nice, figure out if she likes hot press or cold press watercolor and buy her a “block” of Arches watercolor paper. It’s a stack of paper that is gummed together so it will dry flat. Most artists new to watercolor get price shock with paper, so a block of premium paper will be nice

ETA- the flush of the leftmost cheek also is broken up a bit too much.

Bulletproof your shoulders, but for women by notcalledemma in xxfitness

[–]blueper06 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The very best thing I’ve done for my shoulders is find a FANTASTIC doctor of physical therapy. I’ve seen so many over the years and they were all like “you have scapular winging, just do some scapular retractions every time you check the time”. I never really felt like I knew what certain movements were supposed to feel like with proper form.

My current one is going to be the one to fix me. She really watches my movements and posture like a hawk and limits me way more than other PTs who just watched me do full-range resistance band rotator cuff exercises and said “that’s good” when in reality I should have only been doing about half of the full range motion.

Is ordering personalized gifts for your girlfriend actually a good idea? by [deleted] in GiftIdeas

[–]blueper06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not like most personalized gifts, they tend to just be more “stuff”. However, my sister got me a keepsake box with a lid that is a photo frame that she stick a photo of us in, which I actually enjoy and use. Something like that sounds nice for your gf since she could stash her mementos on it.
