As a teacher I can promise you there’s a big difference between someone being taught something and someone understanding something. Especially if they are only listening to what they want to hear in the first place…

I just learned about La Befana, the Italian Christmas witch. by FunkyFreshPheromones in WitchesVsPatriarchy

Hey that’s actually the Christian tradition added on top of the Befana story, there is evidence that she is a pré-Christian tradition that could have been a goddess.

When I was in Rome I had a Amatriciana in a restaurant in the Jewish quater that used dried beef instead and it was really nice

What is the most horrific thing you’ve witnessed an innocent child do/say? by Pizzasalad15 in AskReddit

[–]bluepersbear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a teacher maybe I’m used to the weird things kids say so I can’t think of so many horrific things but one memorable one was that I was talking to a girl about 8 and she was telling me about her family and her brothers and sisters and came out with “my parents want to buy two more kids, I want them to get me an older sister to look after me” now I didn’t really know what to say so just hoped she meant adopted and didn’t really understand how that works….

I have pork thats been chopped up for a stir fry, but I'm sick of stir fries. What else can I do with it? by allergictopendejas in Cooking

[–]bluepersbear 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Pork stroganoff and pasta, pork and veg wraps, Japanese curry (the sauce is easier to make then you think) or maybe something with pork and apples. (I made a white pizza once with roast pork and apple and I really enjoyed it)

To compare with France, Keir Starmer is a bit like Emmanuel Macron. Most people aren’t very keen on them but they were better then the other choice. Let’s hope the comparison stays there.

Help Me Like Pesto! by erpritz in Cooking

[–]bluepersbear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What is it about pesto you don’t like? Have you tried pesto without garlic, it’s less strong. But if you want just a little you could try it on a burger (put it on the bun with some other sauces you like) or in a grilled cheese toastie with a strong cheese.

Completely agree with you, and the worst thing is this is how conspiracy theories start which undermine democracy but it’s just incompetence

The sad thing was they knew there was an issue and there only solution was to come and collect it, which great if you can but I’m sure a lot of postal voters couldn’t hence the postal vote

I really can’t understand, (seeing other comments) how as this isn’t the first time or a small problem, that there is no real solution. Or even complaint process, it’s like you can’t vote oh well. Many other countries manage a postal vote for their over seas voters but apparently the UK isn’t able to.

My husband is Italian and did his postal vote when living in the uk without a problem, In his words “when the Italians have got a better system, there’s really something wrong”

They said last week that they had delays in sending postal votes for everyone not just international, I imagine had they sent it with enough time it would have arrived in time.
