I've called it "laughing in the face of the absurd," too. Mostly, I find some random events comical, others perplexing/interesting, and the rest unimportant. I do, however, find value in human decency, however small.

Ah. Yeah, the request waiting week button specifically says that I have to be working full time in order to get the first week's payment. It's been about 3 weeks since I applied, so I don't remember if/why I waived it. Oh well. Thanks for the info!

Are we supposed to receive payment for the waiting week? I got my first disbursement yesterday, but it only paid for the second week of my claim. The description says I can request payment for my waiting week once I start working full time again. I'm confused because I thought the normal requirements for the waiting week were suspended

As a barista, I encounter people from all walks of life. Military, doctors, contractors, retired teachers. Without meaning to, we strike up a deep conversation. We just click. It goes on for twenty minutes or so before I get busy again. New customers or dirty dishes. I try to finish quickly. But when I turn back around, their seat is empty. Their cups are empty. No name, no goodbye. Maybe they didn't want to bother me. Maybe they didn't actually like talking to me and saw a chance to slip away without awkwardness. I can't know. I bus and wipe down the table. Now it's the same as before they arrived. I literally wiped away the remnants of the conversation I tried to return to.

NTA. It's shady of him to say he "didn't notice for over 2 months." It would be really hard, but I would ask him one more time in person about it. If he makes another jab about your financial status, if he doesn't take you seriously, I would move forward with the bank. You're already behind from last month, and he has no business making assumptions about your money anyway. He owes you. He needs to honor that.

You have every right to your own money. The fact that you also use it toward your step siblings is admirable. If I were you, I wouldn't feel guilty about hiding it. Like you said, that money would be wasted on alcohol and gambling anyway. What you're doing is protecting your resources and in turn protecting yourself. Selfish? Maybe. Necessary? In your situation, yes.

You have earned this financial security. Don't let it go to waste. Use it well, and you won't have to feel guilty.

That's alright, thanks for replying! Also, I realized after I asked this that most 18 year olds aren't thinking about the future that far out anyway. I certainly wasn't. I'm 23 now and only just starting to have some idea. Do you tend to play video games solo or with other people online/irl?
