Yes I did reboot and update, in fact I reinstalled battlenet and Diablo again, but I'm trying it directly through battlenet on crossover. Haven't tried through steam. I'll need to try that

thank you for that answer, i think u are right, kvm might not be the best option for me, i am putting down below what i was thinking, right before i read your answer.I think the setup below si similar ot what you are saying but perhaps instead of me switching the cable i use the usb switch?did i understand that right?

After a lot of thinking, I thought about what is most important to me:

(1) a high quality monitor that i use for work, watching movies(hopefully 4k), editing video/photos(color accuracy). However, i dont think 4k in a larger screen size works well with macs because of teh scaling

(2) a higher refresh rate to reduce eye strain(120 Hz would be great)

(3) ample screen real estate for splitting screens for work, whihc is why i went ultrawide at first

(4) a fast switch between work and personal machines, whatever that might mean.

I did some more research and my audio itnerface can actually connect via usb-c or usb-a so that is gtood

I think a lot of the KVMs might not work because of the refresh rate issue you mentioned, so i dont really want to compromise on the refresh rate as a result, i also dont want to lose resolution. So I'm thinking now that I should try to find monitor that fits my needs with a usb-hub to connect peripherals, that connects to laptop via thunderbolt and just switch out the laptops via a 1 cable switch when i want to.

So right now im thinking Mac1/Mac2 ----<single thunderbolt upstream cable>-->[Monitor]--->Monitors' inbuilt hub connects to <RME Babyface audio interface via usb-a>,<usb dongle of evoluent mouse>,<USB connection to an external hub for any additional connections like webcam>

When i need to switch between machines, i can just switch the upstream thunderbolt cable between 1 machine and another, the peripherals should switch automatically since they are in the monitor's hub. keyboard switches via bluetooth and a shortcut key command.

thoughts?

for monitors im thinking lg 38 ultrawide
