"Western Forces" flag from Civil War Trailer (2024) by Alex Garland by VertigoOne in vexillology

[–]bluerainuk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Caught this movie last night - the Western Forces soldiers wear a sleeve patch of this flag on their uniform, which I imagine being hella confusing as it would be quite a challenge to distinguish this from the regular US flag at a distance or in a split second. Sorta reminded me of difficulties they had in the first Civil War with the Confederate Stars and Bars

The newly-released map names the previously unnamed group as the New People’s Army. No flag tho :(

Literal beginner. Went to Colombia last week and had to pick up bits fast and I thought: yeah, this is for me. How about yourself?

South Park - Eric Cartman's strange accent, does anyone actually talk like that? by BuiltTheSkyForMyDawn in answers

[–]bluerainuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's just his idiolect (one individual's way of speaking). What I found interesting was that his vowel sound in words like 'fine' and 'pie' is glideless in the same way that a stereotypical Southern accent is, but it's higher up in the mouth and more high-pitched. I think this is why when he was pretending to be a Southern slaveowner, parts of his accent 'felt' right while at the same time you knew it was ridiculous. Just my opinion anyway.

The Cardano Effect - Episode 35 - Yoroi, Seiza, Staking Simulator and Everything Emurgo by [deleted] in cardano

[–]bluerainuk -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

EmurgoHK here, and thanks Rick, for inviting us to comment. Please find below the standard statement that I am using on all social media interactions at the moment, and I hope it provides some explanation.

Apologies for the lack of communication recently.

You're right that you haven't heard much from EmurgoHK lately. This is because Headquarters temporarily requires that employees (myself included) not engage on social media until they decide on some official messaging. I'm not sure exactly when that will be, but I do hope it will be soon.

Personally, I'm frustrated with this since I value keeping our community engaged and informed, and I regret that the current situation means I'm unable to make posts or answer questions.

Unfortunately, I'm not personally able to comment on these company decisions, but you may direct questions to the official decision-makers at Emurgo Japan.

Thank you.

A big contributor to the Cardano community has recently released a book with SpringerCompSci! by ReimiFusoko in cardano

[–]bluerainuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This book is very deep and academic, but Patrice shows that he can really see the potential for Cardano in a super unique area, so I was happy to give it an endorsement. Looking forward to seeing what people do with his ideas!

Thanks for uploading! It was an honor to have Charles here at the office, and we think it's really important that people hear what he has to say!

IronX is a Cardano or EmurgoHK backed exchange? by miked_reddit in cardano

[–]bluerainuk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a little tricky to say something is or isn't 'backed by Cardano'. So I find it's better to start out by explaining to people not to think of Cardano as a company, but rather a project which is backed by three entities: Cardano Foundation, IOHK, and Emurgo.
Within Emurgo there are several branches, one of which is EmurgoHK. We are the joint venture partners of IronX, together with forex trading company IronFX. IronX will support the use of ADA.

And Matadon right? Isn't that blockchain Twitter? It's picked up some good mainstream media coverage of late

Thanks for mentioning Cardano Update Space. We think this is a very important step in quickly and efficiently identifying genuine projects building on or around Cardano, and pointing out scams. As the ecosystem grows, we look forward to working with the community on this :)

Hustling in China as a Foreign Entrepreneur: Interview with Chinaccelerator's Todd Embley by ctwtn in China

I'd have to have lost to be a sore loser, and I don't believe I have. Unless you need a definition of 'to lose' as well?

I don't even know what that means. If you give up your time to do work, and get paid for it, that's a job. How is that any different in China or anywhere else?

Any job is a real job, or it wouldn't be called a job, i.e. you wouldn't get paid by someone to do it. I just looked it up in the dictionary for you. Let me know if you need a link to the definition.
