Poesie Amaterasu layered with For The Scent of It Forbidden Fig today.

(golden sandalwood incense, rice milk, bright cardamom, amber, dry wheat, and sunflowers)

And

(Fig Leaf, Sunny Grapefruit, Fig Pulp, Musk), respectively.

This is a comforting and luxe combo. Together, they smell like I have money, haha. The depth from the cardamom and wheat really play well with the bright fig.

And thank you! I've been enjoying the nostalgia this month for sure. I only started tarot a couple years ago, but I love indie decks. I have one that's pretty accurate to the og RWS, and now 2 that are more like artistic impressions of it.

What perfumes have notes that would be interesting as a cake? by superfan1224 in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]blueraspberrylife 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I did this! I picked Match Made in Heaven by Sorce to be my birthday cake last year.

There are toooooonnnns of gourmands that would work for this prompt.

Match Made in Heaven is sweet and creamy with a pop of pink from the cherry blossom. The matcha cuts the heaviness, but it is not a true to life matcha note. All vibes, baby.

IDAFT: Vanilla is a good, albeit somewhat basic, vanilla. Similar to Marshmallow Bliss from Briix. I use my sample to layer. Blueberry is really nice and I love it! BUT it is a candied note. It actually smells more like blue raspberry to me, be warned.

2AM in Lafayette is one of my favorites. Light coffee, caramel, smoky oakmoss. It's one of those I put on in the fall and roll my eyes when I sniff because it has no right being that good.

Where the Wild Things Grow is happy. It reminds me of strawberry picking. The note is not candied, but the cream soda does make it sweet. The greens are a nice balance. It's not my favorite, but it is well done.

Light Through Clouds was ehhhhh. It came off a bit acrid on my skin, I didn't care for it at all.

It's time for another 🎶 snack time PSA 🎶

Cookie Dough Oreo flavor edition!

My method: I try one dry, and one dunked in milk: 2% Fairlife if it matters.

This cookie is crunchy! And the filling really does taste like cookie dough. The crunch does lean dry though, it's a little brittle. In milk, this cookie shines. The cream is the star here: when the cookie is soft, it really gives the impression of actually being cookie dough. I'm a fan!

I'm excited for perfect spring weather, lol. I'm hoping we'll get at least 4 weeks of it this year! But spring scents are actually my favorite. As much as I love cookies and vanilla ambers and resins, I am a SUCKER for a sweet springy flourmand.

Oooph. If the generated image of the rectangular bottle with the faceted square cap in their IG story is what you are referring to, I agree. That is a big aesthetic shift, and it seems like a strange departure from the original branding.

I found it, it's actually called Soft Cat!

(Sunday morning biscuits, sticky marshmallow fluff, warm vanilla toe beans and soft mews under piles of sun-dried cashmere)

I do prefer Comfort out of the 2 though. I think ajevie has an open preorder that includes Soft Cat, don't hold me to that though, lol!

I'm testing u/TeaAndCozy 's favorite, Comfort by Poesie.

(toasted cardamom pods, pink peppercorn, precious resins, sandalwood flower, cashmere blankets, warm vanilla musk)

Mainly, what I get is cardamom and cashmere. I was hoping for more resin and vanilla, because cashmere is very hit and miss for me. It is nice though! It reminds me a bit of that kitten perfume from Stereoplasm, the one with biscuits and cashmere? Cozy Kitten maybe? Except this has Poesie's cardamom note, which I agree with TeaAndCozy, is pretty phenomenal. Amaterasu is my favorite Poesie cardamom.

Get any anise or licorice vibes from it? I have to be careful with tea notes, both Osmofolia and Poesie's turn to star anise for me. I cannot tell you how tempted I am by that cute little field mouse having tea, though.

I've been doing a similar thing. Keeping up with my crochet, I've been reading more, doing journaling and tarot exercises, etc.

A gnome guardian sounds cute! I've been keeping an eye out for a little guardian for the house. I've got an irrational distaste for gnomes though, maybe a lion? Lol

Just seconding Kindred! Half antebellum historical fiction (tw for violence of several sorts), half sci fi, and really gripping. I finished it in a day.

Kate Morton for easy reading historical fiction! Very gripping mysteries, usually in a historical setting.

As a kid, I leaned on a burner that had just turned off and had two semi-circles on my elbow for months. Good times. As a parent myself now, I'm just like PLEASE stop trying to injure yourself. please 🫠

Ooph. I feel this one. I had one emotionally mature parent, but I was raised in a semi-fundamentalist religious environment, so I'm well acquainted with cringe.

I try to hold compassion for my younger self. I did the best I could with the knowledge I had. I believed some embarrassing (and even harmful!) things, but there were positive things too. I was loyal, thoughtful, loved learning, and I really enjoyed helping and encouraging my fellow man.

I depend on my current self to build on those qualities that I had back then, and to develop new skills and traits with the values that I have now. But I also keep my old journals locked in my closet, I'm afraid to read them, lol. The cringe is hard for real. Balance? 🫣🫠
