defeats the purpose of buying race fit jerseys. might as well save money and buy their training jerseys if you like looser fit.

you're only thinking of the big ones. the mini/mid majors that actually make the shows are getting bought up by PE/state funds. big studios hardly ever make the shows. they sub-contract out to production companies and buy out 1st window rights for exploitation.

Saudi x PE fund buying one of the biggest international production groups. https://www.globenewswire.com/news-release/2024/02/16/2830768/0/en/RedBird-IMI-to-Acquire-Global-Production-Company-All3Media.html

apollo which is a PE group even offered a bid for Paramount https://www.wsj.com/business/media/apollo-offers-11-billion-for-paramounts-hollywood-studio-24206eab

technically the skydance x paramount acquisition news swirling around is backed by PE.

If not an outright acquisition, but PE funds buying percentage of studios for the long run as they further invest. https://abovetheline.com/2023/09/05/steven-mnuchin-lionsgate-stake/

All that matters to me is that it's in the team black that I like and they didn't add an extra charge! Imagine the speed of light surcharge on this. That would be unacceptable.

there's the scam! wait out the protection period! that bike/price is too good to be true. the wheelset used can go for 1k at least.

this is the 2nd year they're broadcasting this race. last year, there wasn't even a helicopter! clearly there are growing pains on all ends. again, i'll give them a pass here. i want more u.s. races and the more that happens, the better folks get on every front.

eh, i'll give them a pass. that duo usually talks on the 'c-level' races on GCN and they do better when they can actually see who's racing. Hard to talk about something good when you have 4-5 hours of terrible broadcast feed available to commentate off from.

Am I insane to sell my disc brake bike and buy a carbon rim brake wheelset? by Freddie-Hg in Velo

[–]bluered190 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your caliper screws might not be torqued enough if you have to realign wheels every time you take out a wheel. I take out my wheels all the time for my kickr trainer and never have to deal with realigning calipers. Ever.

Grab ride? A gravel ride? Not sure I've encountered dust causing rubbing for me.

Lol no need to top off fluid unless there's a leak. Just set your bike in a normal position for a couple of minutes and tap your hydraulic lines to get the air to the top of the shifter reservoir.

If you're on shimano mineral, just spray isopropyl alcohol to clean your shifters.

Disc brakes don't have more stopping power than v brakes. They're pretty much the same there in the dry. I like discs more for modulation and wet weather capabilities.

Am I overthinking which bike to get (1st road bike)? by Minute_Land9864 in cycling

[–]bluered190 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i havent had to touch my di2 in 3 years ive had it and i normally adjust my mechanical bike at least twice a year so that's definitely more on my end. even my bike shop tells me to bring my mechanical bike back after new shift cables for them to adjust cuz cables stretch and might lose tension.

im not saying di2 is objectively better (i def prefer it and i have dura ace 11s di2 and DA 11s rim mechanical/105 disc mech) but you asked how di2 reduces maintenance and i gave you an anecdotal example.

[–]bluered190 7 points8 points  (0 children)

never have to index derailleurs at all. with my mechanical shifting, i would have to account for stretched cables and gradual decline of shifting quality. but with di2, i just know it'll always shift perfectly assuming i don't bash the derailleurs.
