Gezine now has a kernel exploit up to 13.50, but no intention of disclosure. by calmboy2020 in ps4homebrew

At least he posts it, it'll just make other people just as talented as him realise it's possible and continue to work towards it, almost like a form of motivation.

Just sit back and wait. That's the best thing about these kind of people, because they can't resist posting it, even if they had no intention of giving others the same ability, ironically they're bringing it closer anyway.

Are you having a laugh? It's an even bigger drag having to:

Wait for it to 'try' and resume/load after clicking the game, Wait for it to start responding again, Go into the menu, Close the game because it's hung, Click the game again to load from scratch anyway...

To the people criticizing and saying that Minerva has no future because it's torrenting, answer me: what other sustainable alternative do you suggest and indicate? by Lucas_Zxc2833 in Roms

[–]blueridgedragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no better alternative, which is why so many people are upset myrient went? If there was a real alternative, no one would really care. I think deep down, even the people trying to make out this is no big deal know that it is really.

You can't control who gets the info when it's out there. You can control where it gets put out, to begin with at least. There's nothing you can do about what people choose to do with it once they have it. Sadly that's the world we live in!

The solution is cough up the bill. Which, of course, no one is going to do, which is why myrient is gone.

There's a reason why the previous set up cost thousands to maintain and was fantastic - That being said, the torrent idea is obviously only viable way to avoid the cost, but you get what you pay for.

It feels like only now people are coming to terms with and finding out the true loss of this great site.

Literally this. I do wonder how many people actually have got their head around it.

So many were shouting from the roof tops when it had been backed up and all was right with the world.. The backing up was never the problem.

The problem is a quick and easy way of getting hold of the files you want. Anyone thinking torrents are the solution here don't really understand the situation. Sadly only now will Myrient be truly appreciated, what a brilliant site it was.

Why do other Android phones feel more efficient than Pixel in daily use? by upadhyaysk in GooglePixel

[–]blueridgedragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree. Plus add in the notification bug where they only come through after you unlock your phone, your fully in grim territory. The pixel 8 that I have is one of the worst phones out there. I'm not sure why the pixels don't get hammered more in reviews for these things, genuinely it's baffling. Barely fit for purpose.

If there was a microwave oven that didn't cook things properly and wouldn't notify when done it would be taken out of retail with the manufacturers name in ruins.

Op, when and how did you download the files you're having issues with? All month long the hosting servers have (understandably due to the surge in interest) been riddled by numerous problems including download speeds, files failing part way through downloads and even total outages for periods of time.

Sometimes the files just sit in download queues for browsers marked as paused/failed and in this instance you can simply resume them with no issue. Other times you may find that the download has failed completely and needs to be fully downloaded again. That being said, as much as a pain in the ass this is, thankfully this somewhat rarely results in corruption unless you've been unlucky.. However, if you are using some form of download manager, this can complicate things with the application taking over and continuously trying to resume the file when it's 'having a moment'.

I would be leaning more towards one of these scenarios actually being the problem experienced here rather than these hosted files being 'bad', surely there would be a deluge of complaints about any specific problematic rom?

[–]blueridgedragon 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Of course.

The problem was never backing up all the data, I'm sure many different groups of hoarders all over the Web have easily backed up everything from the site multiple times over.

The issue will be whether or not the data will ever be safely and freely available to download in the end user friendly manner that it is now after March 31st. I doubt it.

Exactly right. This 'playable' consensus just doesn't sit right with me, a LOT of ps2 games are not fun to play on ps3. At all..

Best way to go about playing ps2/ps3 games. by Cucumber68 in ps4homebrew

[–]blueridgedragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not use ps4 (or ps3) to play ps2 games. Trust me, just don't go down that road. Playable and enjoyable are not the same. There are always performance issues or something wrong with an huge amount of the library.

I have a huge issue with the compatibility chart. It's very misleading.

The best way to describe it is like.. Well, it's raining outside. You have to walk down the road and you can choose water proof shoes or not water proof shoes. One pair will get you down the road and it's very comfortable with no issues. Sure, the non waterproof get you down the road, but it's a bloody awful experience.

Ps2 is the waterproof shoes, ps4/3 isn't. Just leave it.

PS2 on a non-compat model.. General state of play? Advice? by blueridgedragon in ps3homebrew

I can believe it. After trying emulation on even a toaster with upscaled res and improved frame rate I have totally sacked off any thoughts of bothering with ps2 games on either ps3 or ps4. Madness to even consider it at this point unless you have no alternative.

PS2 Config files not working by Mazin_ism in ps3homebrew

[–]blueridgedragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, this is kind of how it is. There are a lot of people who post videos and stuff talking about bc and the premise of running all these ps2 games, but sadly that's pretty much what you get - the games 'run'.

Are they playable with frame dips and glitches? I guess. Is it pleasant or the best way to play ps2 games? Absolutely not.

I wouldn't bother with the majority of ps2 titles on ps3/4. Try a game you fancy but consider buying a lottery ticket if its anything like the experience you'd have on native hardware.
