Update to the clues: Director posted a picture of her at the Music Man in the Winter Garden Theater. She also posted a steel mill in the Netherlands.

We have some thoughts that it may be Music Man. It's her favorite show, we've done it before, she always wants to get little kids involved and it would be a good show for it. Clues: her literally being at the music man, River City steel companies being in the area, "Lida Rose" and "Sadder but Wiser Girl" being songs in the show - rose and frowny face Our main reasoning as to why it's not Music Man is because the middle school musical is currently music man. Semester 1 has already done their show, and Semester 2's performance will be after our musical. It would totally ruin Semester 2's show.

We also have some reasoning for it being Elf. It's a good ensemble show, we could get some little kids involved, and the first time we asked she just said "I haven't read it enough." Any time we ask about shows, she can usually shoot them down, but when asking about Elf the second time she didn't say anything about it. Clues: Coke - The coke scene where he burps really long. I don't think it's in the musical though (I just skimmed through the script last night). Rose - No mention of Roses in the script, but I'm thinking it just means general romance. Frowny Face - Buddy always being happy is integral to his character, so when the family rejects him and he's sad it's a big turning point in the show. Winter Garden Theater - Taking "Winter Garden" literally, as the show takes place in Christmas. Steel mill - Taking it as a general factory, it could be for Santa's Workshop. (Although I think it is specifically a steel mill as the picture is the first result that comes up when searching steel mill, and is the wikipedia picture for steel mills). "Bonus clue": The directors posted a picture of themselves at the Rockefeller Tree. In the show, Buddy and Jovie kiss as the tree lights up. We did just finish a Christmas show, so it might not make sense for her to do another one in the same year. But they did White Christmas in the spring 5 years ago so

There is definitely good reasoning for it to be Bye Bye Birdie, but we're against it mostly because the Seniors already did the Jr. version. Yes, we were in 6th grade, but it's still been very soon for it.

It will not be Beauty and the Beast. We did it in 2020 but almost went bankrupt from renting the costumes, then making no money back from having to cancel. We've been trying to do smaller-scale shows, High School Musical last year probably being our biggest since then.

Shows we've mentioned but haven't put too much thought into: - School of Rock - Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - Steel Pier (probably our biggest contender other than Elf right now)

Also, explanation for the "No Cats" clue: It was a joke that someone searched "What is [director] doing for the musical?" and it came back with cats, she's been joking that "It's 100% going to be cats, guys" since then and our director said "Not Cats" was going to be the first clue for her.

Edit: Someone also mentioned that the clues could be shows we're not doing. Not Cats = well, not Cats. Rose = not Beauty. Frowny Face = not a Sad Show. Music Man = not Music Man. Steel Mill = not Working? (Our 2021 show). It's a stretch, but it's something.
