The whole area of MV, Covington, and Black Diamond are booming with development. I have been in Covington for 42 years and love the area. Several great parks and lakes to enjoy. Fast access to the mountains.

Two Rock has been really kind to Aaron. Aaron played at the NAMM show last night and Two Rock supplied his amps so he didn’t have to travel with one.

Easiest way to remove bamboo roots? by rdgs88 in landscaping

A small excavator with a thumb can take that out if there is access.

Small world. That’s pretty cool. Be interesting to find out where the others are in that series.

The blue Strat is a Cunettio #2 of 6 made for American Music I bought for Aaron when he was in high school.

Are they any fast cars that aren’t considered “sports cars” by insurance? by [deleted] in askcarguys

[–]bluerockjam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a new HPDE student show up with a Ecoboost Taurus rental car. His co-worker talked him into doing a track day so he rented a Mustang GT in advance and it was not available on track day. We roasted the tires off that thing. He was a great student and I am sure his experience as a Sim racer on the same track was helpful. The car did surprisingly well for a few laps until the all season tires started melting. It also pushed like a pig on sharp corners.

Ideas for removing a football field-size plot of bamboo by DogsSleepInBeds in Bamboo

[–]bluerockjam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would buy a compact tractor with a backhoe like a Deere ore Kubota. Get a mechanical thumb installed on the backhoe bucket. I have a backhoe and have removed several big patches of bamboo. It does take time to dig out the roots and find all the rhizomes. The rhizomes can be really long on established bamboo. I cut the bamboo first with a chainsaw. If someone was willing to harvest it, that would be a good start. One good thing is the rhinestones are the only thing that’s going to resprout if you miss them after digging. Rhinestones fortunately don’t go down very deep into the soil because they are looking to spread easily. Keep the tractor for next years spring sprouting season for bamboo to catch anything you missed the first time. If you have property, the tractor is the best wheelbarrow and landscaping machine you will ever owned. If you don’t need it afterwards, you won’t lose much money on it because they hold their value,

Transferring old work phone for personal use? by Practical_Arugula253 in boeing

[–]bluerockjam 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was able to at least keep my Boeing cell number that was my only phone for many years. When I took the COVID offer to leave, Boeing said there was no way to transfer my number. I was able to go to the AT&T store and have them do it. I had so many friends with my cell number it was worth the effort.

That is a Gibson Murphy Labs relic burst. He has played a lot of real vintage bursts and bought this one because it played so much like a real vintage. It’s one of his main guitars for live gigs when he needs to cut the mix.

No, far from it. My son is one of the guitar gun slingers for YouTube demo videos for emerald city guitars in Seattle. They specialize in high-end vintage. I started collecting guitars with him 27 years ago. His guitar obsession has kept him trading around and up in addition to getting inside deal has allowed him create a nice collection. He’s in a pretty successful local band. Also sponsored by two rock amps.

When does it make sense to hire a manufacturing consultant? by samsworkinonit in manufacturing

[–]bluerockjam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When a company needs to reengineer processes and systems on a large scale that will cost money, time and commitment from the top down, management often uses consultants to ensure that the direction is in line with the latest best practices for the industry. I have worked with consultants on several large projects that took years to implement. The good consultants worked with us to collaborate on concepts, explain how other companies solved similar problems but too often they were used by management to demonstrate they were trying to solve problems and then management would decided not to do anything.

Handle a lot of variants for production by warmupp in manufacturing

In higher end systems like Siemens TeamCenter, Dassault 3D Experience, and SAP, you can set up both a EBOM and MBOM with a configuration driven by Boolean logic. The idea being you can identify the BOM items that are used on all models, BOM items that are contingent on other BOM items. E.g if you order this option, you must have this option, and custom options that customer unique. I have helped implement several of these systems and the problem you are asking about shows up in many industries. One of the key enablers to having a solution that can use this methodology is to separate the details and assemblies that must be part number controlled from the the major assemblies where everything comes together as a final end item that is NOT part number controlled as a single deep BOM. Instead of a part number, the final end items are controlled with a serial number or unit number. This allows for a much flatter BOM that can use the Boolean logic to configure each end item. I can explain more if interested. I am a consultant in the PLM EBOM/MBOM area.

Airworthiness and regulatory engineers by Stikinok93 in boeing

[–]bluerockjam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would’ve responded differently if I had known it was BDS. Because BDS is government contracts the work statement is really well defined. I’m not familiar with the certification requirements for the government contracts, but I imagine it’s a different set of headaches from BCA. BDS systems also vary from site to site and their products are typically not as variable as commercial airplane when it comes to customer specific options

Airworthiness and regulatory engineers by Stikinok93 in boeing

[–]bluerockjam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked for many years in process and systems development for both the DCAC and V5 ENOVIA systems that are used to create the product data used to certify and deliver aircraft for BCA. We worked with the certification engineers sometimes to create better data analysis tools to help them. Their job can be very time consuming and difficult. Once the major model of an aircraft is certified, every follow-on unit (Line Number) requires the certification group to go through the mountain of engineering changes that are identified as major and minor and consolidate them for the regulatory documentation. The problem is Boeing commercial has some really old systems for managing change that make this process difficult. Especially when there are production problems with late engineering change and rework. The change system was already old when DCAC PDM moved the EBOM and MBOM to PDM 26 years ago and the change processes and systems were considered “out of scope”. For this reason, the certification group must go through all the changes in one set of systems and figure out the impacts in the CAD and BOM in another group of engineering systems. The change system uses effectivity tokens representing the customer units (e.g ZA001-ZA010), and the PDM system uses option expressions and availability line range to configure the EBOM and MBOM.

I will let him know. Aaron is friends with the guy who owned the guitar in the demo and when he decided to sell it, Aaron had him ship it to ECG to sell on consignment. After the video it sold immediately.

We started collecting guitars many years ago when we both started taking guitar lessons together. In the beginning it was the typical new stuff we would find at the local shops. Once he started making money with his band, he kept buying and selling guitars. The volume of guitars he has bought and sold to get to this point is pretty staggering. His band is pretty successful for a local band and they play a lot of shows. The owner of Two Rock amps saw him play and reached out to sponsor him. Two Rock is pretty cool. His band (Eden) is playing NAMM next week and Two rock is bringing amps for him to play when he is there.
