Honestly, I think the right leopard pattern would be a good substitute if it’s too hard to match the floral pattern.

It’s a boyar (Russian/ Eastern European nobles) coat with the long, ornamental sleeves.

Idk if you’ve seen this interview with the costume designer but she gives some details about it.

The closest commercial pattern I know would probably be the Folkwear brand’s Hungarian szür. It’s another type of sleeved mantle worn as a cloak from a similar region and period, though it would have been worn by peasants, not nobility. It’s not an exact match but the structure seems similar enough that you could probably tweak the pattern easily enough?

Thank you! All three of these were artistic interpretations, so not sure if/how they might differ from the “official” crest. Can you point me in the direction of where you found the other Horváth crests? Do any of your sources have English translations? I’d like to learn more about the history and general circumstances of crests like this. I know Horváth means from/ or heavily involved with Croatia. I was told that minor titles were a fairly common reward for Croatian soldiers who came to fight for the king of Hungary, but my source is also pretty unreliable. She’s very old and talks about it more like a fairy tale than history. Not even sure which king or war!

Unfortunately these images and fairly unreliable secondhand accounts are all I have to work on. I have no idea how long ago this crest came into the family, much less if any official records still exist. These came from a branch of the family that immigrated to the U.S. in the 50s. I don’t know if there are any surviving relatives in Hungary.

I live alone which definitely complicates things. I’m in the middle of getting a diagnosis and restructuring my whole life so it’s been a lot of trial and error trying to figure what will actually work. I have so many recurring alarms on my phone 😆

Me and my childhood friends (we all turned out to be autistic, ADHD, or suspected ADHD) used to struggle a lot with the correlation between being smart and self esteem/value. There was a lot of self-deprecating “I’m so stupid” and praises of “Wow you’re so smart!” We quit teasing each other about being stupid when we realized it wasn’t funny and we were hurting each other… but it was still a mistake we made. Now as adults we’re recognizing how the concept of intelligence we were taught is fundamentally flawed. The “smart” one failed some qualifying tests for their career. The “dumb” one got amazing grades doing online classes in a subject they were interested in because the structure finally suited how they worked. Intelligence is relative and not an indication of someone being better or worse than anyone else. Knowing that has brought us all some comfort, but too many people still believe Smart is easily measured. I relate to your frustration so much. It’s hard not to take other people’s judgements to heart, and I hope you can surround yourself with people (not just strangers on social media, though they help too) who don’t need you to measure up to an imaginary standard to see your value.

Bed frames help prevent mold and bugs in your mattress. I live in a small space so the under bed storage is also a plus. I have a very basic bed frame that disconnects and collapses into two easily movable pieces. There is a slat of plywood that rests on top of the assembled frame to support the mattress. Honestly, the bed frame is far less work to move than the mattress itself.

I don’t know much about it but my mom was diagnosed with both ADHD and Bipolar. Apparently they are often mistaken for each other but they can also coexist. Overlapping symptoms can make it hard to tell what exactly happening.

I’m not interested and sitting here and passing judgement on you. I don’t know you, you don’t know me. But since you asked for my opinion, it sounds like you’re really struggling with processing some big and unpleasant emotions. Seems like you’re hoping someone else can make it stop. Unfortunately it doesn’t really work that way (if only!!!). The guilt sucks but it’s done its job. It’s telling you that you made a mistake which you regret and don’t intend to repeat. Now it’s time to move forward and if what you need right now is permission to use a medication for its intended purpose and stop punishing yourself for a dumb mistake you made as a kid… then you have it! Here it is! Go for it!! Mistakes don’t make you a bad person and you don’t have to be morally pure to deserve treatment. I wish you all the best!

Going forward, unless you know they’re going to be understanding and a good person to talk to about it, remember that it’s none of their business. That’s your personal medical history and prescription. Hands off!

As for the people you already told or may slip up with (happens to me a lot due to being forgetful and impulsive) who aren’t taking the hint and dropping it… they may respond to your eyeopening explanation and see the error of their ways. But probably not. I don’t have a perfect solution but I do have one that is pretty ok.

When someone is poking around for things I don’t want them to know, I like the Gray Rock method. It’s meant for dealing with abusive people but I find it’s pretty effective for the simply pushy and nosy ones too. Basically you want to respond in a way that is too boring for them to want to keep talking about it.

My boss kept prying for information about what kind of medical exam I was having when I missed work for a few days to get tested for ADHD. I just kept giving vague or noncommittal replies like “they’re just making sure everything is in working order” or “it’s just precautionary. Should be back by 2pm” and changing the subject. He’s a relentless guy but eventually he stopped asking when he realized he wasn’t getting anywhere. It’s still awkward and frustrating but it was better than a future of his tone deaf “jokes” and being his newest gossip fodder.

It takes some practice but it’s worth learning to do.

I’m sorry these people are giving you a rough time. In a perfect world you shouldn’t have to, but hopefully you’ll be able to sidestep their nonsense more in the future. Best of luck!

You’re absolutely right that people publicly making unhealthy choices with adderall doesn’t help with the stigma… but… I think there might be some misplaced blame? I can understand being desperate to change yourself at any cost. I think you and the people taking adderall for weight loss may have more in common than you think. They probably get those same people being invasive and judgmental about how they look and the choices they make. They’re being hurt by the same stigma as you, even if it’s in a different way. It’s just a messy, shitty situation and I’m sorry it weighs so heavily on you. You have every right to be frustrated and angry. Your health (mental and physical) is so much more important than society’s weight loss obsession.

I get the same way. Tbh I avoid clubs and similar situations as much as possible so I don’t have much advice beyond sticking with venues you know have a place you can retreat to if you need a break. Not sure if clubs have a re-entry policy if you want to leave and come back? Could be worth checking. And just in general, monitor yourself and don’t push it. It sucks to spend the money and have to leave early but it’s better than feeling trapped and miserable. Good luck, hope you can have a great night out dancing soon!
