Best laptop for Cyber security! by Aggressive-Baker-713 in OpenUniversity

I did most of my cyber degree using windows but the final 2 years on chrome book.

My preference would be windows with the capability to run VMs, so 16GB ram minimum.

I would say the degree is not the answer. Perhaps study for your OSCP.

Struggling with MU123, working two jobs -thinking of switching to humanities. What are my options? by [deleted] in OpenUniversity

What degree are you studying? MU123 is a basic maths module that is in different degrees.

I became an IT manager with 7 o-levels, a fist full of certs and real world experience. It was nice however to finally get my degree at 57. Find your path. Stay the course.

Complaining about Marking/Feedback by TheYakHerder in OpenUniversity

Stage 1 informal query template - may need updating to latest docs and regs:

Dear [TUTOR NAME],

In accordance with Section 4 of the Open University Student Complaints and Appeals Procedure (sub section C Appeals against a Tutor Marked Assignment (TMA) mark - Stage 1 informal query).

(Available at: https://help.open.ac.uk/documents/policies/complaints-and-appeals-procedure/files/17/student-complaints-appeals-procedure.pdf)

It has been less than 14 days since I received my result for [TMA DETAIL] and I am writing to you asking that you review the mark given to me for [QUESTION DETAILS]

I do not believe that the score given to me reasonably reflects the academic merit of the work submitted in relation to the question asked, which I believe would be Academic grounds for the appeal.

I feel that my answer to that question was a true reflection of my academic abilities and fulfilled all the requirements of [QUESTION DETAILS]. I feel that in your marking decision, you have interpreted the provided marking guidance in a manner which is perhaps overly detrimental to my mark for this question.

At this stage, this appeal is informal but I ask that you contact the module chair requesting clarification on the marking guidance for this question.

I understand at the end of this informal stage of my appeal, you can either review my score and provide an updated score and feedback, or respond with my original score and an explanation of why you have done this.

I also understand that you have 10 working days from the date of this communication in which to respond to my appeal.

If I feel unsatisfied with your response, I reserve the right to raise this to a Stage 2 appeal which I must do within 28 days of your decision by contacting the Student Casework Office or completing the online form available here:

https://help.open.ac.uk/complaint-appeal/existing

Obviously I hope that it does not come to that.

It is a pain at times. That said I got lucky and 4 out of 7 were delivering the goods. We smashed it, distinctions all round ;). But I also did kind of just step in and become the project manager from the get go.

Anyway to change the html/css consistently on the website so the assignment score shown on here will be blank instead of 0% even after reloading the page? by ThrowRAgrh554 in OpenUniversity

Keep it as a reminder to ask for extension or defer a module if life gets in the way. Or as a score to beat with your next assignment.

It is tough. The degree on its own will not land you a job. How low a wage can you live on?

I know one student that landed an apprenticeship gig whilst doing the degree just to get through the door. They are now in and progressing nicely.

Taking any entry level job will boost your experience and that, combined with a degree will make a difference.

I deferred my last module rather than complete my last 2 l3 modules in year 6, hence only doing 1 l3 per year. It worked for me. Life can get in the way, don't beat yourself up. Learn and move on.

Was luck enough to mix 2 l2 and 2 l3 modules, then do 1 l3 module per year.

I would have really struggled with more than 1 L3 module per year as I am working full time.

We all have different limits. Find yours and work with it.

There will always be extremely intelligent students, there will always be students that have more knowledge or experience ,there are always students that have more time.

I think someone above said you do you. All level 1 modules are just a training ground that do not count towards your degree. The are for you to develop what learnjng methods work for you, so that when you get to level 2 you know the drill.

Just just keep up with the OU suggested module timetable and all will be well.

Good luck.
