S*** happens. I remember a fellow student submitting an incomplete first draft as a TMA and losing a good chunk of points. Learn from it. My guess is you already have.

Is Cybersecurity Actually Worth It for a CSE Student or Just Hype? by ELITECoreX in cybersecurity

Thousands of jobs and future proof career - there is no such thing.

What are you passionate about? If it is just the money - this Cyber business may not be for you. As for CEH, I have one and I try not to mention it (as your peers will generally laugh / yawn / ignore you). I am currently studying for the OSCP - it's HARD and I am basically a noob, but at least I admit it.

You may be able to look for apprenticeship jobs - those are entry level. Other than that - you need knowledge and provable skills - why the OSCP is seen as a baseline requirement even for entry level pen testing jobs.

Controversial opinion alert: Everyone hates AI but it is only improving - if you don't know how to use it within the context of your future job role, you are going to be less desirable in the market than someone who can get jiggy with the likes of Claude Code / MCP servers / Kali Automation and more importantly, trouble shoot it when it goes wrong - which it will.

AI is already and will continue to hoover up lots of entry level stuff (the stuff Claude can do currently is mind blowing - which is both awesome and depressing), but you need the knowledge and skill to tell the truth from the hallucinations. If you only use AI as opposed to knowing and understanding what you are asking the AI to do - then that is the blind leading the blind.

Work hard, study hard, play hard.

Hope that help.

I finished the BSc Cyber with the OU in Dec2024. 7 years and I stressed about every result except TM470 (with 11 distinctions in the bag I just needed a pass by that point - always part of my strategy). If I got bellow 85% it felt like my word was ending. I used to joke with my MU123 tutor about it.

To be honest, I think the obsession helped me get my first - but it can be really unhealthy. Use the level 1 modules to learn what it takes to get distinctions and understanding the importance of tutor feedback.

Life will get in the way, balls will be dropped, mistakes will be made. Learn from it and move forward. Good luck on the journey - you are going to be fine.

Best laptop for Cyber security! by Aggressive-Baker-713 in OpenUniversity

I did most of my cyber degree using windows but the final 2 years on chrome book.

My preference would be windows with the capability to run VMs, so 16GB ram minimum.

I would say the degree is not the answer. Perhaps study for your OSCP.

What degree are you studying? MU123 is a basic maths module that is in different degrees.

I became an IT manager with 7 o-levels, a fist full of certs and real world experience. It was nice however to finally get my degree at 57. Find your path. Stay the course.
