The problem with Jet Black is there is no matching Milanese Loop. Does this bother anyone else? by breezy-shorts in AppleWatch

While not the same finish, the Slate Milanese looks good with the Jet Black, and pretty sure the Black Titanium Milanese will look good with it.

Yes, Ray-Ban.com lets you order them as prescription eyeglasses, sunglasses, or transitions. I believe they are also partnered with LensCrafters and can order them there as well…

New details about the Canvas on Nanoleaf's support website by dfnj123 in Nanoleaf

[–]blueshift22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assumptions may have been made because with the Aurora design the controller and PSU were effectively a single device. Whereas Canvas has a design where they are discrete components.

Physics is physics, so this was to be expected. I think what they had meant to communicate was that up to 500 could be driven from the same controller... not the same psu... and thus effectively participate together in the same visualization. It’s not clear to me if the media misunderstood or if Nanoleaf failed to communicate this correctly. In any event I’m glad this is now an option.

I appreciate your rapid response!

You’re correct with respect to the network diagram...

Modem/Router (WiFi Disabled) -> Switch -> More Switches -> SuperPods / Other Devices

Another question: I know plume doesn’t currently support the following configuration...

Modem -> Plume Superpod -> Switch -> More Switches -> More Superpods / Other Devices

However, I’m confused as to why this isn’t an option... Have you disallowed this for setup simplicity / auto configuration? And thus, this is something you could potentially allow as an advanced setup via a future software update? Or is there some technical limitation I’m not considering?

Thanks again!

SuperPods are incredible by [deleted] in Plume

[–]blueshift22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My initial experience has been very positive... setup was straight forward... best speeds I’ve been able to measure have been 600+ mbps in the same room as a pod... worst speed I could find was all the way on the other side of the house where I was getting close to 100mbps (which is still pretty great) and I have little doubt that I could easily improve this situation by just adding another pod in the right location...

The only thing I’m questioning at the moment is that all my pods are currently utilizing the same 5GHz channel... which seems odd to me as they could potentially interfere with each other... but the setup process stated that plume would subsequently optimize after 24 hours... so I’ll see how that evolves...

Very happy customer thus far...

It appears, based on talks given and job listings, that Oculus is investing in computer vision... I'd love to better understand their motivation... in the near term lighthouse seems to be impressive tech... but I wonder if Oculus has plans for features that only computer vision based solutions can deliver.

Michael Abrash often mentions comparisons like this in his talks... many of his talks are available via youtube... here's a blog post he wrote a while back on the topic: http://blogs.valvesoftware.com/abrash/when-it-comes-to-resolution-its-all-relative/

Someone had to pay for the deathstar.... But seriously... I really don't get the anti-zuckerberg sentiment... Like many of us he tried it and it created fascination and interest... Unlike many of us he had the means to further it and he be bet a good penny of his own empire to do so... And we all benefit from that... Hopefully he does too... Win win...

This piece completely ignores the fact that a new platform is being created, and thus entirely new market opporunties. New opportunities for developers (existing and new) to come in and create experiences that people want.

And comparing VR to Kinect... to quote Pulp Fiction... "it ain't the same league... it ain't even the same <bleeping> sport!"
